alternator mounting pics

i just have the alternator. i got it set up, but it still doesn't line up. the alt is still too far back. my crank pulley is 3 groove, and my water pump pulley is 1 groove. i had to start from scratch. i had the partial set up, which was the crank, and water pump pulley, and they were from a engine with AC. whitepunkonnitro says i need a matching set from a non AC engine.

With a single water pump pulley, you will need a single groove alternator pulley. Then go with a double groove crank pulley. Keep in mind that there are some crank dampers with a symmetrical bolt pattern for the pulley, and others non-symmetrical bolt pattern. If you get the wrong pulley, five out of six of the holes will line up, but you can always "egg shape" the odd hole and get it to fit the sixth bolt. But it's best to try to get the right pulley in the first place.

Mancini Racing sells pulleys new. I would be careful about the water pump pulley. I have two new looking ones, I can't remember where I got them, but they have too much runout (wobble) when I spin them, I can see the groove moving back and fourth. I found two old "rusty" ones and they are fine, just have to clean them up and paint them....

If whitepunk has a set, I have dealt with him, and he's good to deal with.
