In the last 2 weeks I have ask about lifters and roller rocker arms for sale by members. Some have replied with options but none that would work for me. But there was one that kinda bothers me. I received a PM from a member that just joined here in MAY and he said he had a set of roller rockers. He also said I should reply back using his email account. When I inquired about brand, what they were on and how much time they had been used i didnt hear back at first. But the next day I got an email with a price and that they were 1.5 arms. No additional information other then send the asking price thru money gram because his paypal account has gone dormant. I didnt trust this so I didnt respond. Im not sure if I was going to be scammed or if it was ligit.
How would you have dealt with this.

I think you did right. I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.

I look at post count and/or join date. I trust the old timers. You have people that damn near live here. Those people won't risk getting kicked or the humiliation of a "I got ripped off by...." thread.

i got the same thing on a wanted ad for a intake and i messaged back ( here) and said to let me know what he had ( here) and got no reply.

same thing no posts and joined in May. Joey i messaged you the info

How do I report it Joey? I had the same thing happen and still have the original response along with the email address in my mailbox.

Requesting payment through a money gram or Western Union is a big red flag. This is a common approach used by scammers. Thank you for putting out the warning, you may have saved much grief for other members here.

Thanks again,

Russ
