68 cuda radio question

hey guys i have a 68 cuda formula S. the radio is a stock AM FM . But it also has what looks to be some kind of amp mounted on the right rear wheel well. Also a part mounted under the dash area with 2 dials for somekind of tuning. anyone ever see this and is it a factory part? Thanks
 
there were no factory add ons for the radio on a 68 cuda...must be aftermarket stuff post some pics
 
Car is in storage. it is a original car still running points dist and original paint.
 
That was i was thinking too. but it is a wierd spot to mount the amp or whatever it is. You have to take most of the rear interior just to access it. That why i thought it might of been dealer installed. Thanks
 
I looked at some pics from last year. The part with 2 dials has a name that states "motorola vibrasonic" it must of been added later on. It looks like an old unit.

My box looks the same but mine has 2 dials. debating if i sould leave of remove from car. Thanks
 
Our first 67 had a reverb unit with the stock AM radio. Music got sort of a concert hall effect but speaking voice sounded like head in a box.
 
It sounds like a retro-reverb unit to me probably not a factory item. If it works you might want to keep it just for the fun of it.
