Looks like I'm relocating to Western New York

-
I am not,but just wanted to note, if you have guns, you might want to read up on the laws there,

I grew up in that area but escaped in 79. I still have lots of family up there. There used to be lots of muscle cars in the area but the economy absolutely sucked. I haven't been back in 8 years so I don't know what it's like now. I used to have a friend there that had a 69 cuda 383 special ordered but last I heard he had it apart and in a barn.

We camped and sailed down there for many years when the kids were small. Still get down to the Chautauqua Institute occasionally. Nice country.

It looks like I will be moving to Western New York, South Valley area (Frewsburg mailing address), Cattaraugus County, Do we have any members in this area?

Russ

My parents live in Jamestown NY and I frequently see them. I live closer to Buffalo NY but only about an hour or so from your area. We used to play sports against Frewsburg in school.

Other than the idiotic "safe act" Western NY is a pretty good place to live, especially Cattaraugus county, things are fairly cheap and it's good scenery.

I'm sorry.

Yup, bad news state for that.

I reviewed NY Gun Laws (safe act) Since all my guns are considered sporting arms, there is virtually no difference in the laws between Pennsylvania (my current residence) and New York State. Now it is a different issue for handguns and/or those deemed to be assault weapons. Not a problem because none of my guns fit that description.

Wait until you need ammo.

In NY you now have to undergo a background check to purchase it. While filling out the paperwork you must list make, model and serial # of said weapon that you intend to use the ammo in.

DEFACTO Registration.

The only ones that are exempt are NY State Troopers.

I think I'll stay in Nebraska. Semi auto weapons are legal, no handgun registration in my area.(rural) and no problems/issues with buying ammo. The way I read the law in new York, even a .22 semi auto rifle is considered an assault weapon as it can hold 13 or more cartridges.

That's only for certain hand gun ammo I believe.
