I reviewed NY Gun Laws (safe act) Since all my guns are considered sporting arms, there is virtually no difference in the laws between Pennsylvania (my current residence) and New York State. Now it is a different issue for handguns and/or those deemed to be assault weapons. Not a problem here because none of my guns fit that description.

Wait until you need ammo.

In NY you now have to undergo a background check to purchase it. While filling out the paperwork you must list make, model and serial # of said weapon that you intend to use the ammo in.

DEFACTO Registration.

The only ones that are exempt are NY State Troopers.
