Hello all,

I have a 1969 Dart Custom, 5.7 motor, auto trans and computer out of a 2005 truck. Altercation front end and plan on a mini-tub set-up in the rear. I read this site and others for information, thanks to all that post. I'm building a street/strip fun car. Here's my question, I'm looking for someone in the So Cal area that has experience with the 5.7 Hemi engine swap. It would be nice to see a successfully completed swap as a reference for my project.

Thanks in advance, Darryl

Ok. I'm in San Bernardino. I'm not quite done. But ill pm my email if you have any questions, I don't know how far along you are. I'm close to starting, just been busy. There's a car show on Sunday, mopars in May, at riversides school for the deaf. Not sure if we'll have any swaps, but if your interested in coming out I can get you more info.

Great show. A number of us in the Chrysler Performance West club will be coming out.

Sorry, I don't know of anyone local that has done a hemi swap. There were a few very clean ones at Spring Fling I saw.

You'll be fine on your own if need be. Your combination is probably the most swap friendly combo. The truck front assembly tucks everything up tight and high on the engine so there's no hassle with frame clearance for AC pump, alternator, etc.

The 45RFE tranny is one of my favorites, but I believe you'll need to add some clearance for it to your trans hump and build or modify your mount cross member. The AlterKtion is your best friend with regard to adding good clearances around it all so you can add some TTI headers. No denting of header tubes required for clearance and rattle free operation.

There's enough of us performing these swaps that I think you could ask any question you have and there's somebody here that has had experience with that aspect of your swap. We're all using various combinations in our swaps. There's probably not two swaps that are the same.

I would caution you, as with any internet forum, there's people who do a lot of reading on various forums, etc. and pass on information as if they know it factually when it is often incorrect. Try to find people with actual hands on experience of the particular part of the swap that you have questions about.

I did just remember there's a guy in SoCal that put pretty much your same combo in a '69 Cuda. The car was a green color and he painted it a copper color, (I think it was GoManGo as used on the 2005 Ram Daytona). If you can track down that car and owner, I'm sure he can be of great help to you...

Oh I forgot. That is Robert in our car club. He is in Torrance.

He's on FABO from time to time. IIRC, robert64 ?

Thanks Jason, I look forward to contacting you. Words well said Cuda SRT8 and thanks for the input autoxcuda. This is a great site and this was my first post. I was unable to attend the Spring Fling but will make it a point to attend the next event. My friend that did attend the Fling said he met someone with a Duster that had a very nice 5.7 conversion. The Duster owner stated that someone assisted him with the install and tuning. My friend did not remember the car owner or mechanics name.

A very big thanks to all that post, Darryl

There was a purple 71 Demon that won best of show modified that had a new hemi conversion. He's from Arizona and his son is a FABO member.

There's two cudas that used the truck engine conversion, a '67 and a '69. The '67 is on here from time to time but I think he used stock suspension. The '69 is the closest to what you are doing. He used the truck engine, trans, wiring, computer and even the dash cluster. It came out pretty nice. He used Bullit wheels on it with the GoManGo color. Looks real nice and was in a magazine or two. I'll watch for it. I think he'd be a real good resource for you...

The demon is beautiful. I see that car every year at mopars at the strip. He has the 6.1, w/ alterkation. Can't remember what tranny he used. Srt8 cuda is correct. Do double your research, if someone tells you something, always a good idea to double check. If you have any questions, or get stuck, this site is full of knowledge.
With the a alterkation, it'll slip right in, with the bigger tranny, you'll have to widen the tranny tunnel. You have a few options for computers,
Headers, you have a few options, with alterkation, you can run power steering, rack.
