What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
today tuesday...putting new metalic brake shoes in strange disk brake on rear...and cutting and rewelding a upper shock mount.

nice and warm today...102

It is sitting in a body shop waiting for patch panels to be put on. The guy said he hadn't even started after 2 weeks, time I needed to get the car ready to race at a local Mopar show. jerk body men. Are they all alike?

I'm heading out to the garage to tear apart the front suspension on the 66 Polara. Can it be done by Friday and drivable? Hope so.

no we are not all alike..! I do bodywork as a hobby.. people knock on my door all the time..

as for my car.. i didn't even look at it today.. I talked about it.. but did nothing! (just came back from a nice relaxing 7 day vacation)

Thinking about the next move on the 64 Dart. Swap out the 2.94 for 3.73 suregrip and putting on a quieter muffler. The 12'' Race Bullet is a bit loud for street driving. Play with the timing also. Just looked and the thermometer is 107* on the back porch. I think I'll stay inside for awhile.

I am contemplating buying a narrowing jig for an 8.75. I have a source of several c-body 8.75's and I think I could make a buck or two narrowing the housings to fit a-bodies. The big question is, how motivated am I?

Put the new line lock in and didn't like how the directions said to put a bunch of adapters on the master and lock for the lines to fit, so I found out that the steel compression unions threads are the same thread in the line lock.
Used sealer on the threads of one end of the union and screwed them directly into the lock, cut the line and fed it right into the unions.
Nice, clean and done deal.

Added the line lock light into the guage pod I made out of a computer side cover.
Have the carbon fiber now, but still need the aluminum J trim to put it in and cover the holes in the dash.

Pulled the exhaust and fixed a leak in the collector right inbetween the four tubes, added the bung for my air/fuel ratio guage and now need to order some jets to get the secondaries in range.
Idles at 900 rpm's and approx 14.5 to one but into the secondaries it drops to 11 or so.

Pulled both door panels and replaced some rollers, got the windows adjusted and rolling up and down straght, replaced the upper door trims and new windows sweeps for the outside. (Pricey little mothers) but worth it.

Washed the seats and vacumed it out..

It's a running driver, so this was interupted here than there with work trips and grocery store runs.

This was over the weekend and yesterday so the priorities were the car, not telling you guys what was going on when this thread started. :)

Spot prime & block the hood for paint. Between drying intervals, driving you guys crazy.

Hey doug, Tim the toolman Taylor approves of your radiator cap.

Glad you noticed...I have a very extensive collection of "Binford" stuff!

Just working on getting the front bumper back on it tonight. One of several items I will need to replace by the time I paint it.

Great to see all the replies and progress!
Got my new Doug's headers installed today and did a test fire, uncorked to let 'em warm up for the re-torque before I call it a day.
What a difference a GOOD set of headers makes!

Those headers really make your gas powered blender sound like a cam'd V8!!! :toothy7: :finga:

Finally got my trunk trim back on the Dart. Its been off the car for a couple years while I did the body/paint.

Over the last couple days, I pounded out dings, filled other dings with filler, sanded, and painted my trunk trim, and got it reinstalled.

I used quartz gray metallic for the center strip, bright silver metallic for the rest, except for painting the letter in with black. The whole thing got 3 coats of clear before going back on the car.
Here's a few pics

I hooked up the throttle cable on my Duster, fired it up and listened to is rumble awhile :D but for some reason if the car stalls and its around 180* it won't fire, I let it cool down to 140* and cranked it up again but when it stalled again, around 180* it absolutely wouldn't fire again.... Currently I'm blaming the 20+ year old ignition system.

Washed the GTX and took the kids and dog for a ride, out looking for trouble!! None to be found! Scared the dog doing a burnout!! Its Mopar day at Art in the Park in our town tomorrow, so all the Mopar faithful are meeting up there!! Should be fun!! Starting on the Dart Sport tomorrow as well!!

Cleaned up car today, tightened a few things up should be good to go. Have a new car after 10 years with my 68 Dart, looking forward to show. (65 Dart vert now)
