512 build

Those mid-60s Bs are tough. I'd go with the M1 single plane. It wil lgive up a little but not as much as the RPM on that combo. The Indy is another good choice but I know the M1 fits - not sure of the Indy. I had a 440 in in a '67 GTX that had to run the M1 and stock air cleaner to fit under the hood. I haven't tried the Indy but the FBBO guys would know.

The M1 single plane and Torker 2 look similar. Which one is better and why? Again this is 512 stroker and it dynoed 660hp at 5700 with the victor intake which won't fit under hood

The only big difference I see that concerns me is that I have victor heads heavily ported to 375 intake. The torker2 is much smaller ports than these competition heads. Hope it doesnt kill me. Edelbrock doesnt think it will be a big deal. Its a street car.

i really think the indy dual plane would be the way to go. are they max wedge size ports? a torker 2 isn't going to work if they are.

I recently dynoed a similar BBC and swapped from an ported RPM Air Gap (627hp@ 5700) to a ported Vic Jr (660hp@6400)- it made the same low end tq, same peak torque (635lbs) and another 35 HP up top. I would talk to Joe about having him port the M1 intake. Dual plane on that deal will require a BIG 4150 to feed it properly.

I have the Indy Dual Plane intake on my 512, and no, it does not have the max wedge ports. That being said, Indy designed the intake to be able to be port matched to max wedge. There is plenty of extra meat to do so. The intake is about 1/4" shorter than the eddy performer rpm manifold. IMO, it's an excellent intake. I pulled 696TQ with eddy performer heads and the low end throttle response is excellent.

I'm having Joe Sherman build me a 512 stroker for the 67 coronet. Anyone want to take a guess at the dyno numbers we will get.

512 scat assembly
Eddy victor heads 355cfm on bench
Super victor single plane intake
1.6 roller rockers
Comp custom full Hyd roller
-- 242-- 248---590 lift---111 separation
1000 CFM carb
Compression 10:1

Should be on the dyno in a couple weeks. He think 650-700HP
Is it the Joe Sherman in So Calif, if so he is a Chevy guy and you will probably only get about 300 HP. LOL. Hopefully good numbers.

There is much less of a problem when the intake ports are smaller than the head port than when it's the other way around. I don't think it will hurt you much to be honest. I'd also be curious to see if you have it dyno'd when it's running in the car what numbers it posts.
I'm pretty sure it's the Joe Sherman that won the EMC a while ago.

Joe has been building engines for what...50 years? He's no idiot and the engine doesn't know what brand it is. Its still just bore x stroke and an induction and exhaust system.
Very nice results Wazoo64-

The Indy dual plane is available with maxie ports.

Not cutting hood. I like this look

This has a Mopar 512 under the hood? DAYUM, that looks AWESOME, and just knowing such a motor is resting under there, makes ya go WOW thats pretty impressive to hide or be able to hide such a beast!

Was that built with the 4.250 or 4.300 crank? Good numbers and great looking ride!

Just noticed on your dyno sheet that your motor didnt use very much fuel? What was the carb abd jetting you were using. My 426 wedge build i ran a AED 750 hom and my motor uses 638 cfm and 226 LBS/rh fuel.

Sorry read that last sheet you ran a demon 1000. i am not a huge fan of those carbs and niether is my engine builder. I will go out on a limb here and say you would of had better numbers with a 950 hp holley. I have seen that here, and the demon carb went on the swap meet table after that.

Joe has some demons on the shelf that he bought up cheap before they went out of biz. He says they do better than holleys on his dyno. I like quick fuel carbs.

I like quick fuel as well, they are becoming the industry leader. Many sportsman racers are winning with those carbs now. Did you happen to ask him why your motor didnt use any fuel? I am not trying to criticize, just seems that your motor should of used way more fuel.

LOl anybody who builds a big block isnt really concerned about fuel consumption.... Just look at your dyno sheet, and the LBS/hr column you only used 140 is lbs / hr. Thats not a lot of fuel for a motor that size with that big of carb.

Fuel A is primary side, fuel B secondary, add the two for total. BSFC is the number to look at- mid .400's is doing good.
