How does this not ruin your head unit? I tried doing this when I was 16 when my amp died. I had a pioneer head unit 50wx4 I believe. I hooked the two subs in place of the rear 6x9 speakers, and it worked well for awhile, but then the head unit died.

Someone said the subs were trying to draw more power thus killing the head unit. Maybe it was unrelated?
