OK, hear is my problem, I have a original 69 barracuda 383 w/ manual steering. I have been looking for a pitman arm. Every one that I buy or see says that it is for a 69 big block A body, but they do not fit the steering box. The area with the splines are always to big. Mine measures 1 inch. All others are around 1 1/4 to 1 3/16 Now I am not sure if mine is the fast ratio or if that makes a difference when it comes to the pitman arm. I have tried pitman arms from classic ind. year one, napa, advance. Even the pitman arm from rare parts isn't right, according to there measurements part # 20492 Dose anyone have any ideas ? Thanks

There was another thread on FABO a couple years ago where a member was going through the same thing. He was ordering Moog pitman arms and the splined area dimension were all different sizes. He had to get three if I recall correctly before one was correct. All of them had the same part number.

Why don't you send your original one out to Rare Suspension Parts, and have them rebuild it. :dontknow:

I don't recall what year the steering gear changed. Could have been a mid year change. My guess is if you ordered the pitman arm for 67 model A-body you would get the right one.

My 67 definately has a small spline

My 69 is the larger sector shaft,

Member Sammie (Tom) was having the same issue as his box had a smaller spline. You might want to send him a PM and see if he got it worked out.
