has anyone put a B-body 4spd in their a-body using the b-body shifter location? now i could be wrong but im pretty sure i would be able to make the difference in location up with a shifter handle. granted it would be like shifting a truck but it would work. any help or pictures would be greatly appreciated. a-body 4spd around here are turning into gold and priced as such but the b-e-body ones come up pretty cheap once in a while. thinking about putting one in my 66 valiant.

If you use the shifter in the location on the trans. you will have to cut out the top of the torsion bar crossmember. It falls right below it. This is not a good thing to do.

yea i have no intentions of cutting the crossmember unless im going with a 5 spd. apparently i have had a brain fart. i was refering to the other pad then the one used in the pictures. should have the shifter coming out under the dash somewhere. the adapter does look pretty good. might have to make one of those.

is there a diference in length between the a-body 4spd and the b-body unit?

The b body unit is the same length and uses the same slip yoke as a 727, if you are converting from 727 to b body 4 speed you can use he same driveshaft.

I make those adapters on occasion.

Grind the front mount bosses off the trans which interfere with the x-member. that works on 67+ cars. Not sure about the 63-66 models

the b body mounting pad will still need to be removed. at least on my 68 it had to be

Here's my b-E body trans in my duster.. crackedback does a really good job making those brackets for the b-e body trans, doesn't hesitate to buy one from him at all
