Several members of the project spoke at the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners meeting on 6/5/2014. We were well received. Commissioner Arian referred project members to Commission Staff to further the ideas presented about a track on the island. Commissioner Pirozzi expressed that he really liked the idea that the track can assist with vocational education in the community. Our official point of contact is Cynthia Ruiz, Deputy Executive Director, External Relations. We will be meeting with her on 6/202014.

Ah the good Ol days.
Not in So.Cal anymore but it was a shame when all those tracks fell, from OC to Lions and of course Big Willies.
I remember when real estate encroached and the damn homeowners starting crying about the noise that the end was near.

Hope ya'all are successful getting it opened back up.

Good Luck!

I'll be out in la later this year and I am excited to visit some of the old school places where hot rodding began. Although the more stories I hear about places closing the better it makes cincinnati sound. I have five tracks within two hours and most complaints only came in when racing went late into the night.

Hey doogievlg, what dates are you going to be in LA? Make sure the Petersen Automotive Museum is on your list of places to visit as well as the NHRA Motorsports Museum at the Fairplex in Pomona.
I also recommend the Nethercutt Museum and Collection in Sylmar as "must see". Both the museum - and separate "Collection" in another building across the street - are free but you need to make reservations to view the "Collection" (http://www.nethercuttcollection.org/Visitor.aspx). The "Collection" is truly outstanding and well worth the minor effort of making a reservation.
The "Fall Fling" all-Mopar show is October 25 at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, the 23rd annual California Hot Rod Reunion is at Famoso in Bakersfield on October 17-19 and the NHRA Finals are November 13-16 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona.
