Anybody have any pictures or links to bolt-in sub frame connectors for a 68 Dart? I want to make some, bolt them in so I can adjust them. I realize this subject has been addressed before, but my search found very few results. tks...............;)
 
Can I ask what you mean by "adjust"? They should be installed solid, they are designed to stiffen the car.

I was thinking of making some with steel channel on each end, a 3/4" (approx.) diameter long bolt connecting the ends. I did not know they were to lessen "twisting" of the frame............I thought they were to simply "lift" the body a little bit. Thanks for the education. Obviously not a good idea to make some like I described. :D

Nope, not designed to lift anything, lol.

That bigblockdart link is how I made mine, you can make them for about 30-35 bucks, and it will amaze you how much better the car feels.

If you do decide to proceed, make sure the car is level and the doors open and close properly before you weld them in.

Only one I've ever done myself was 2x3 thru floors with outriggers to mount a 8 point bar. I wish I had pics, but it was from a 86' Fox body Stang in the early 90's. These cars are actually very similar in this regard, and that design in my opinion is superior to bolt in's when using a bar/cage. I'm sure searching this site, or the net, will provide a bolt in option if your not doing a bar also.

You said it all,Ricky. Had three of these Foxies,they are light as a tin can. Full tubing welded in front and rear sub frames the ticket here.

our 71 Duster I put outriggers on the frame connectors and used a holesaw to run the main hoop thru to the outrigger...and put the small support bar to the main hoop on the frame connector..,,,,solid now..
 
The tubing comes in several thickness. Has anyone ever build one car with thin tubing and then built the next car with thick tubing? What thickness is standard?

my cousin did the ones on my 72 swinger, but hers didn't go through the floors and fit very nice and I know she used 2x3x.125

her design looks a lot like the bigblockdart dot com link so I am guessing that was the guideline she used to do my car because they came out very solid and the doors and gaps all around the car are still right.
