I actually run a Trott line. Which is 1200ft long with chicken necks tied to it about every 9 ft. It is weighted down with about a foot of chain on each end to hold it down on the bottom. Also on each end is a buoy so I can locate the end of the line. My boat is rigged with a PCV pipe fabricated in the way of a hook assembly, which hangs over the side of the boat. I start at the end of the line by grabbing the line just in front of the buoy and hooking it over my PCV hook. So, as I go down the line, it comes up off of the bottom with crabs attached to SOME of the baits. As the get up to the hook, I net them with a steel net. As I continue down the line, it goes back down to the bottom for more crabs on the next run. Can usually catch a bushel in 8-10 runs down the line. It is fun, but I see the commercial guys out there crabbing every day. I don't think I want to do it for a living. LOL
