Coming out... I like Mustangs

Just thought it was time to come clean with this... I'm a Mustang guy also. Don't get me wrong. I still love Mopars, but I've been into Mustangs much longer. Here's my story..

When I was 16 (1977) I worked for an awesome mechanic, welder, fabricator, electronics wizard, and a total guru of all things car related. His business was a one man show, taking on jobs like rebuilding massive Allison transmissions, log trucks, yarders, cat engines and tranny's. You name it; he could repair anything and he had a great reputation. He was a real genius.

When he was 18, he ordered and purchased a brand new 1965 Mustang fastback, then enlisted in the navy for four years. After he got out, he eventually moved to my area, where I eventually got to meet this man. I was only 16, but I had taken auto shop and welding in my vocational high school. I remember driving around with him in his 'Stang. I went to work for him, and we became very good friends, but as a teen, my interests were side tracked, and I took on other work. Our families remained friends for years.

Years go by... Like 30 years. I found out he had listed for sale his house and shop, the very place where I worked for him as a teen. The house and shop were very run down. Blackberry bramble covered the entire 4 acres. But I could remember what the place used to look like. I found out there were 3 offers on the property. So I made an offer for $10k above his asking price; but... included in the property was his car, the 65 fastback. It had been wrecked in the front end, he had hit a cow that was in the middle of the highway. It's been sitting in this shop since 1978!

During the last 6 years I have been remodeling the house; all new plumbing, wiring, heating, insulation, roof, windows, etc, etc. but now I am ready to start considering the restoration of this "one owner" low mile collector car! Purdy cool, eh? I used to run around in this car when it was only 12 years old!
