Trimmed rear wheel well

hello,

just bought a 69 dart pro street. the guy had 315/60/15 tires on it. He cut a little piece of the rear quarter wheel well in the front. When i look at other pro street cars it doesn't appear they had to male this mod. is this normal? anybody else seen this before... confused....:wack:
 
Our 70 Duster has had that mod to house the 29X11.5 slicks.

You always have to make that modification when using larger tires. Most people just do it right and section the rear quarter and stretch it with a patch panel, like this.

That's what was done on my old '69 Dart that I built to race NHRA Super Street class years ago. Rules said the wheel opening could not be raised but made no mention about stretching it.
It was a tubbed back-halved car and we stuffed 14x32 slicks under it. Looked great!
