Driveshaft length??

I currently have a 225/auto with a 7 1/4 in my 70 Dart. I will be building and swapping in a 360/904 with an 8 3/4. How much shorter does my driveshaft need to be? Is there anything else I need to modify on the driveshaft for everything to go together? Thanks!

look like 2.26 inches...

you need to see what yoke you have on your driveshaft...and what yoke is on the 8 3/4

there is two sizes....7260 and 7280......you probably have the smaller 7260 yoke on your driveshaft...

there is a conversion U joint that lets you connect a 7260 yoke to a 7290 yoke...if needed...

or if the 8 3/4 has a 7260 on it....no conversion driveshaft is needed.
 
Maybe a rookie question, but hell I am 1....would that number be stamped somewhere? The rear is an abody so is it likely to be the same or no?
