Which one was quickest in 1972

As far as the "teen" powered cars go, although 35+ years ago, what i was around.......

A untouched factory tuned 72' automatic Duster with mags & 70 series tires.....16.20's.

A 70' Duster 3spd stick with headers, Weiand 2 plane, a 625 AVS from a 340, G60's & 3.23's.....15.50's.

A 72' automatic Charger with added dual exhaust, well tuned, with H60's.....15.80's...:thumbrig:.

While not set up or tuned for racing, these cars did run at a local, close to sea level track, that was known to be "quick".

Then there was my 71' Scamp. Had it for close to a year as a DD. Never raced it, but high 15's is where I'd put it. That and the other stock 318" A body's I drove, always felt strong mid way thru 1st gear and up thru 2nd. They were great for making a few squirt's here and there on the street.

As far as the 14's.....with the stars aligned and a full on tune, I could see it happen. I can't help but be a numbers guy though...hey, I'm of German roots :D. I like to use "in car net" numbers, and most 2bbl 318's with single exhaust put out around 150hp. With a "wet" 3300lb car in stockish/geared trim, it will take running 90mph at least to possibly dip into the 14's. Meaning I'd like to see at least 200hp "net" to get there. Will dual's & a 4bbl do it? Can it be done, I guess so since "will run" has seen it, or close to it. It would be fun to play with though.

P.S. The addition of a stock 340 cam or mild Summit/Crane grind would seal the deal imo.
