So.. The time has come to start on some bodywork on my 68 barracuda fastback. I plan to have the passenger side quarter panel, entire trunk floor, and trunk extensions replaced. Auto Metal Direct lists trunk extensions and a quarter panel for the 68 Cuda but no trunk floor specific to the pre 1970 A-bodies. What sort of fitment issues do you think I will run into as far as using the trunk floor listed for a '70 dart for example?

Anything else I should look out for as we attempt to do a job of this size?
Thanks so much. :)

not sure about the trunk floor but I put on a couple of there quarters, plus barracudas. They fit very well

My shop recently did much the same work to my FB. Here's what I found: the floors they sell are for 70-76 coupes/sedans -- they are fine except that the hole for the gas tank filler tube is much larger than that on a FB. It's shaped like a square with the corner cut off, while on the FB it's long and narrow with one end rounded (find pictures of the gaskets on some vendor site and you'll see what I mean). The reason this matters is because of the fold down panel and the package floor on the FB -- the edge of the floor winds up right on top of this gasket.

My shop cut out the area around the old gasket and spliced it back into the new floor, so they would have the right shape hole in the right place. If your floor is too rusted to save that area, they could try to fill in the big hole using the FB gasket as a template.

how is the hole for the side light, is it in the correct place

The ones I got for my 69 were right on. I did some measuring with the original quarters & they were right

My 69 quarters seem right on.

Dave you have asked this more than once about the sidelight location. Curious about what you are seeing ?

One thing for sure is the trunk floor fits good but must be modified as "MAX" says or the subfloor/hatchmount will have to placed to far rearward for the later gasket to fit.

The extensions fit nicely!!

I have not herd anything on the 68 side light yet. All the 69 are good. I just want to make sure that the 68 are also good before I order them.

yes I am curious as how the 68 side marker location is.

i will look into finding a donor piece of that fuel filler area mentioned from another car and have it spliced in with the aftermarket floor pan. mine is way too gone. lol

i appreciate the help this far.

The hole shape is pretty simple -- they could probably cut it out of flat sheet using the gasket as a template.
