I've been thinking about how to mount an alternator with the CSR electric water pump. I know Moroso makes a kit for THEIR pump, but I haven't found anything for the CSR. I may not run the Mopar style alternator. I might run a GM style. So I'd like to see if anyone has done any custom brackets or something with these pumps installed with any sort of alternator. I need some ideas.

I have the proform electric water pump on our 71 Dart....basically I used a stock non A/C bracket.....Used a grinder and spacers to get a powermaster 1 wire square back mopar alternator to fit...

I'd like to see how that's set up. There's no way I could use the factory non AC brackets on mine.

I used the powermaster alternator install kit.

Could you get a link for the one you used? Only ones I see on their site mount on the driver's side. I have a power steering pump on the driver's side so it has to mount on the passenger side.

It was on the passenger side. At least I had in mounted there.

OK I'm bumping this thread again. Would really like to see pictures of alternator brackets with CSR pumps.

Bevis Built put a chebby 105 amp alternator on my Demon by welding brackets to the K frame and frame rails. It is mounted backwards and only has the one wire attached. The only real drawback is the radiator has to be shorter to make room at the bottom for the alternator and the fan on the alternator should be a reverse direction as otherwise the fan is blowing toward the back of the alt and the oncoming cooling air is going toward the back face of the alt. I am putting an Earls trans cooler 13w x 5 5/4h where the gap from a short radiator goes.

Only brought this up cause I see bars in your avatar pic.

That's an idea I'll throw around. I might try to install it on the driver's side. It possibly could be easier to install there but I'll have to look at things when I get the motor back.

So here's the final product on how the alternator was mounted with the CSR pump on this engine. The brackets were all custom fabricated and look to be aftermarket after all the TIG welding and polishing the builder did for me. I couldn't be happier with the end result.

thats fantastic! i love that! have him make some more...:)

Oh I'm sure he'd love to! *sarcasm* He reluctantly said that he had about a day and a half in the bracket which is way less than what I would have had in it and it looks way better than anything I expected. We used a CVF 3 groove pulley and used the groove furthest from the block to make it work. The single groove pulley was not long enough unless the alternator was mounted next to the motor instead of in front of it. The alternator is a 1 wire 105 amp that puts out 70 amps at idle. More than enough to run everything on the car at the same time.

There is a thread at Moparts about this. Here is one response but to me it looks kinda close to the timing pickup:

"I use the bracket from Mike Doty (DMI)"
