Who has a 440 in an A body with a hemidenny k frame?? Just wondering what headers to use etc and how stuff fits. ie rack and pinion stuff and if big block manual trans stuff works.

I will go out on a limb here and say that I would imagine that clearances and fitments would be extremely similar to the Alterktion. Search will turn up plenty of information. I am sure someone will eventually chime in with some hands on experience.

I have the new front end. I use the Indy SR heads with automatic transmission. Used elephant ears for motor mounts. TTI 2 1/8" step headers. I know you asked about a manual trans. but I reduced a lot of clearance issues with his front end. It used to take about a 4 to 5 hours to change a starter. NOW about a hour! I hope this helps a little.

With the HDK / Schumacher mounts I place the crankshaft at at what can be considered the "stock"location......1-3/8" offset to the passenger side. That way, most out of the box headers will fit without steering shaft issues.

With the standard HDK the crank is appox 1/2" higher than the "stock" location at the front of the motor allowing additional ground clearance....if "stock" height is required...it can easily be done. I find most prefer the additional ground clearance....especially since there are no issues with torsion bar interference / rub. Most headers / exhaust have more than an extra 1/4" (at bellhousing area) clearance and tucking the exhaust up an extra 1/4" is actually a plus.

I have done numerous manual shift cars and usually slightly modify the Brewers / factory bellhousing clutch cross-shaft mount....I want it to operate smoothly...no bind. Every thing else is el'-stocko....out-of-the-box / factory

I really like the TTI headers...thick flanges mean no leaky. I use out of the box B/E Hemi headers on my Duster build, but the last few I have used the model TTi special built for "tubular" K frames. Mostly #3 and #5 pipes are re-routed to allow easier access to the steering shaft.

Sorry I missed this earlier....feel free to ask anything and I will do my best.

BTW....TTi has several headers to choose from for your hi-deck 440.... street / race....OEM /torsion bars.... specific for tubular Ks....including models that work with all.

Name your poison.

Thanks. Wow about trans shields (auto) how close are they to the floor tunnel pinch weld.

Good question Dave.

It gets tight on the std model (B/RB only) for the shield... but can be resolved simply by spacing the whole K down (up to) 1/2"....which by the way, is essentially what the Hemi version is.

Of course, NO issue on the small blocks with the standard K....all kinds of room

Are you saying up to 1/2 inch below factory hight. So in that case. What header is best to keep it up in the car. I like to run the Sheild not the blanket. I am so close to doing this convention. Just a few things I wanted to ask and this was one of them. The only thing is my car is all painted now. I like to mock up everything first so I am comferable with the build.
I think I way go to Nats. Not a 100% yet. Trying to get one of my buddies to go, 12 hour ride. See what happens. I like to bs with on this.
Thanks Dave

no....my std K is 1/2" above stock....and can be lowered/ spaced down to stock....or use the Hemi version putting it the same as stock.
in other words, the Hemi version places the motor / crankshaft exactly 1/2" lower than the std model.

At the tent in Columbus (Mopar Nats) I will have a K-frame package in a 67 Dart with no motor....no front end sheet metal and light coil over springs which is a good way to view the set-up and watch the travel. of course, the silver Duster (and others) will be parked close by in case you want to check out the Hemi version.

I look forward to the BS....you will be in good company.
