So, how much do you want for that trunk mat?

mvh....
you are so right about repo parts vers OEM. i recently ran into an electrical problem on my 68 (due to the prior "ya-hoo" owner having a "Viper" "anti-theft" system put in the car. here's some advice - DON'T EVER PUT AN ELECTRIC ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM IN AN OLD MOPAR!!!).

in the course of running down my short, i fried the turn signal switch in the steering column. it was a very dumb and senseless mistake. i happen to have another 68 fastback cuda for parts and lifted another unit out of that car. however, when i put that "new" (old OEM) switch in, i installed an "in-line" fuse on each of the six wires. it is a bit of a wiring mess but i securred the assembly with zip-ties and tape and hid it under the dash. in my mind, this hassel and mess was well worth NOT frying another 47 year old OEM mopar turn signal switch.

but to my point of repo parts. i bought a "new" turn signal switch off of ebay and comparred it to the original OEM mopar part. there is NO comparison!! the new switch is very cheap and thin plastic comparred to the old switch. and the old switch has a very cool solid copper peg that goes against the steering wheel copper contact plate. this "peg" has a solid copper "roller-wheel" that "rolls" on the copper contact plate. the "new" repo part just has a copper peg that goes against the contact plate of the steering wheel. it is easy to see how the roller-wheel design would last much longer and work better than just holding the copper peg against a contact plate that just rubs against it. i've seen plenty of examples of how new repo parts are of inferior quality and design as compared to 50 year old OEM parts.

so i'm a "purist" when it comes to parts. i will ALWAYS use an "old" or "NOS" "OEM" part over a "new" repo part if i can.
