i recently purchased an original "Certi-Card" holder to add to the firewall of my 68 cuda just for looks. but now that i'm sitting here looking at this lovely OEM piece, i'm thinking that a 1968 Barracuda was too early of a vehicle to be wearing a Chrysler "Certi-Card" dealer maintenance holder.

i'm thinking that the Certi-Card program started on the 1970 model year. do any of you guys know about this program and when it started? my 68 cuda is 99% original and i'm now thinking it would be stupid to put this Certi-Card holder under the hood. What do you think?

I think it's all up to you. Your the one that has to live with it

I know for sure that they had it in 1965. I have one card for my Dart wagon I bought from Lance in CA. I also have a card from a 65 Chrysler. Picture enclosed. Is that the same card as 1968?

Second Picture is from a 1966 Barracuda that had the cards in the right inner fender. Which year did they had the cards in the engine bay?

Certicards were supplied from 65 to 68. In 1965 they came in the glove box, in 66 &67 there was a plastic holder in the engine compartment and in 68 there was a special pocket on the back of the owners manual. The cards changed a bit too. 65 was plastic with the name of the owner embossed. 66 thru 68 were aluminum with a semi clear Dymo labelmaker tape that had the info. just as seen above.

Thanks grimreaper for that information. I just added the question on my thread too!

yes I concur. And 66 and 67 were aluminum, not sure about 68.

My '67 Newport had a holder on the radiatorsupport and my '65 300 convertible has the proper holes at the same place on the rad.support for the card holder pins.

My 67 Barracuda had one. It was mounted by the battery on the inner fender (near the starter relay).

I have one for my 68 dart with the original owner. It is aluminum with a metallic colored label over the top. I have yet to find where it went. There was nothing in the glove box, and the card says to "keep with your owner's manual"

as always, FABO folks are the "wkipedia of A bodies!" i don't have the certi-card - just the black plastic holder. i'll scan it and add it to this thread.

thanks again..

jc - the steel town (well, not really anymore, but it used to be... back when my 68 "S" was new ... so there...)

my 66 has its original aluminum card, inner fenderwell, passengers side. Im surprised at how many people oogle over it, and that it is still there. Guess i never thought much of it. cool nonetheless!!

In 68 it literally went with the owners manual in the glove box.

Darwin, Dart and Barracuda are in the same place. If you look at the bottom of this picture it will show location. In 67 the certicard holder also doubled as a harness hold down.

Anyone know where it should be mounted on a '67 Dart?

Pics???

John...thanks for that pic! I looked on my Dart, which didn't come with a holder, and there isn't even dimples for where it should be. Did only certain cars get the holder?

i think it was up to the dealer to install the certicard and not all dealers were interested in doing the job.

My 66 Barracuda has it on the right inner fender as described above.

Ok, I was wrong, mine must be in the glove box. there are too many parts in my car to check....

I do remember seeing some mounted on the inner fender near the battery and starter relay.

The more that I think about it, the more I want to say that the cards and card holders were installed by the dealers, and not the factory. Some dealers may have mounted them in the glove box, and others under the hood.

The 1966 Valiant usually has it on the passenger side inner fender near the shock tower, but have seen a few other 66's where it was near the front on top by the radiator core support, might be different cause of A/C or build date?
