Opinions on what this car is worth

-
Value can vary greatly by area. Here in so cal rust free cars are everywhere and can be had cheap out in riverside or sanbernadino counties.... The fact it's a slant six would make it even cheaper out here.... The fact of the matter is condition, and if it's what you want..... Depends upon what you think it's worth as your the one who would trade/ purchase it. But seven grand, no way.....

id say if the body is indeed solid your $3,500 is fair, 7k is way high, remember you can get a restored real 70 340 no option duster for 20K

Here is an example of what you could get out her for around the same price

Nice condition, rust free and has a V-8
the slant cars usually go for about $3k to 3.5k in really good condition.
Good rust free roller projects go under 500 bucks usually

Thats a ten thousand Dollar car all day.

Dude I'm in cincinnati and can tell you that there are better deals on the areas around us.

I've seen better looking seats after a dog chewed them up....

can't really compare the two you posted to the white 70 that the OP is asking about.. the one is a 73 worth no where near what a 70-71 is worth. and the second is a 71 polished turd. look at that mess of a car.

local craigslist , thinking about trading 1999 Silverado for it , got about $3500 in the truck

Mostly looking for a nice duster to tubb

in my opinion.. if that is truly all original paint and the floors and the body is really rust free i'd say its worth between $4500-5500 maybe 6000. if the int wasn't trashed and it was a little closer to being road worthy then it would probably fetch 7k easily.

Look that car over good, looks like the door striker is broken out.

Worth 7 grand? No way.
Good project? yes. Worth 3 grand tops.
The yellow one in California is a polished turd with a salvage title no less. Worth maybe 2 grand to me, maybe as high as 3 grand if the car is truly rust free and the frame isn't bent on the front, (and crudely repaired) which i would suspect.
The white '73 looks to be a pretty good car, but the newer Dusters aren't worth as much as the older ones as stated previously.
I would value this one at 4 to 5 grand.
This is all if i was buying one of them, not selling one, that changes the game a bit......

Salvage title, I would not touch that one. I had a salvage title car before, and it was really hard to get rid of, and I lost money on it. This guy has had that one for sale for quite awhile now.

And to the OP, it is worth whatever you are willing to pay for it. 7k? I would personally not pay that much for a /6 car like this one,( no offense intended to /6 lovers!) it looks nice, but you can find V8 cars in same condition if not better for less if your patient.

See the 68 Dart in my avatar?...California car, built at the LA plant with a 318 V-8 2bbl auto, A/C car, but A/C is not connected, it has solid frame rails and solid trunk and floor pans, very minimal surface rust on one 1/4 panel, body is straight, a little bondo on that same 1/4 panel. You can drive it everyday and restore as you go. $2500. Booyah!

I agree 100%

If it is all original paint, then why are the seats and seat belts blue, the passenger door panel and dash is green? Did they ever come like that? It looks in pretty good shape from the pics, but of course in person is best way to judge. It's not highly optioned with the rubber floor mat, meaning no carpet. Just what I saw with the quick look from the pics. Ok, just looked again, maybe the seats and belts look blue from the way the pics were taken.

I paid $2,000 for my '74 Duster. Absolutely zero rust, pretty straight body with all original paint, interior in far better shape than that one. It ran, although it later turned out to be on 5 cylinders. But with what you know about that one, it might not be any better. I almost succeeded in driving mine home.

As I bought it...

IMHO a $3,500 trade is about the top of the market for that Duster. And only because its a '70 and may not need an engine rebuild. And its a '99 Silverado. Sorry, but :puke: A $3,500 Silverado for that Duster would be a pretty nice deal if the owner of the Duster will take it.

Also, that '70 does not have ALL original paint. There's a blend line in nearly the same place of both front fenders. May be hiding a previous accident.

I have $3500 in the Silverado but can sell it outright for $4500-5000

I don't know where some of you live but apparently prices swing greatly or some of you are the cheapest ****'s ever! Lol. Some of you are still paying 1990's prices. Where I am from a parts car is 1500-2000. I'd say around here that car would worth 4-5000, IF it is actually rust free and straight.

What is your goal? A daily driver? Total restoration? I ask because you can buy it cheaper restored than you can restore it. Just food for thought. Bought my barracuda for 5k, have another 25 invested doing all the work in house except paint and machining. But it is exactly what I wanted.

I agree MTmopars. But there are ALOT of cheap o's in this forum lol ;) where I live that car would sell for 5 easy as long as it drove

I paid $2,000 for my '74 Duster.

but its a 74 duster not a 70 duster. big difference.

i see the line you are talking about it it looks a lot like a shadow but it also looks like spray paint that doesn't match the hood.. hard to tell not standing next to it though.

Being from Indianapolis and having bought a 70 duster in 1976 that had already stared to rust,

IF I were looking for a rust free 70 Duster hell yes I would look at it.

It has been shipped here, $1,000 or more, minimal body work, save $$$$$$$, to me it looks good, who cares what the interior looks like if you are going to redo it as long as the frames are good.

I think for being in Midwest in that shape, take some cash and see what would buy it. He said cash talks, so the $7,000 isn't a firm price.
