Sorry, but I have to ask...why would you have a reverse light mounted to the dash?

A few things come to mind :) but really ?

they came on 4 speed cars only 68 and up and it was because reverse and first are so close in the upper left corner that in competition you don't want to dump the clutch in reverse unless you want damage.....so they put these lights so you could be warned at a glance that you are in reverse and get out if you are going to really get on it.

Thanks. That makes sense. I can see that happening when going from 3rd to 1st.
