Sadly I have decided to let go of this car, it's a numbers matching 67 Dart Gt with a factory 273 (only 128 built in 67 with this motor, # matching )super Commando engine(235 Hp) automatic car with factory 8 3/4 3.23 posi, car Has lots of options including front disc brakes, buckets and console and factory tach.this car is 99% untouched but had been sitting for 28 years. Will need lots of attention , but very very (few of these still around Please note the car is in Wpg,Mb please email me for pics as I have no luck posting pics on this site.
Asking $4500.00

By the way (and just a point of clarification), there NEVER was a Commando motor in a Dodge due to the "Commando" name being a Plymouth name. There also was never a Super Commando 273. The "Super" name was only found on big blocks.

its a 273 four barrel car/Motor whats it called then ? It's called a 273 with a 4 barrel...

Here is the pic Moparhunter emailed me. Sorry for the delay. I thought all 273 4 bbl were Commandos?

Nope.

Here's what makes it rare (based on a couple of assumptions from the OPs first post). With those options it is very likely a Dart GT with the rallye package AND the Dart Charger 273 (see the correct air cleaner). The rallye package consisted of the Formula S handling package AND disc brakes. Every one that I know that I have seen also had the 273 four barrel.

There is one 67 GT hardtop that I almost bought in 1982 that may have been the exception. It was a 273 two-barrel car, but it did have the tach (missing) and 14" wheel (mandatory with disc brakes) and was also a four speed car. The engine was seized, but the price was right ($200), but I really didn't have a place for non-running car.

Over the course of my playing with Darts since the late 1970s I have only seen two that were certain rallye Darts. This one that we parted out in 1981 (The 8-3/4 from this car wound up in LilCuda's 66 in late 1981) and a blue one that I would occasionally see in San Jose in 82-83, but could never find the owner.

You are right Jim! The 273 HP engines installed in the Dodge Dart were called 273 Charger from 1965 to 1967.

As for the total of 273-4 barrel cars being made,and according the GTS books,2,645 cars where made with the 4 barrel option.Of those,947 where 4 speed cars,1,698 where automatic cars.So post the first digits of the VIN number and we decode the car for the total amount of cars made.As for the convertibles,there are 3,729 cars made,LP27-72.Mrmopartech
PS.Email me or call me for the correct number if you wish.

The numbers will tell very little. It WILL be LP27E72. I have no idea what the fender tag code will be for the rallye package (assuming there is a code). It might be on the broadcast sheet, if there still is one.

Other than that this would be an absolutely cool car to put back together and cruise in...

first off, thanks for posting the pic for me 4spdragtop.
the car is Not a GTS but it does have GTS emblems on the front fenders as they where changed along with the hood (it has a 68 power bulge hood on it!) due to a accident in around 69-70 I'm the third owner of the car, I purchased it in Nov after many many many attempts over the last few years.The second owner (They are now in their mid 80s) had the car for the last 43 years of its life, but has not been started or moved for 28 years !! The last time the car was plated was 1986. I really like the car and would like to redo it but I already am to deep in to my 69 Swinger and with family and being self employed I know now I just will not get to for a long time.
here is some of the fender tag codes:
H1 = power brakes
R1= Am radio
T7 =Tachometer
Y2=White convertible top
A6= console
B4= bucket seats (with Factory head rest on the drivers seat, Never on the pass seat) interior and dash are in surprising very decent shape.
H7 fender mounted turn signal indicators
J4= Molding - body sill narrow
W6= build to spec's for Canada
Car Dodge Dart Convertible
engine 273 4bbl V8
trans automatic
build date August 19
axle 3:23 rear axle, sure grip
interior ,Premium trim grade, vinyl bucket seats, copper interior
Paint Monotone Medium metallic paint
other: Medium copper Metallic upper door frame color .
first five serial # LP27E

thoughts ??

PM me with the address if it doesn't sell this week , I will be cruising through the Peg on my way to Moparfest probably Sunday -the 10th give or take a day and would like to get a better look at it .

Still for sale, been away on holidays if anyone's been looking for me. Back now and it's got to GO !!

A Canadian convertible....how much rust does it have? Different front end, fenders and hood along with what else up there accounts for a lot more than 1% touched in most people's book. You did say 99% untouched. Do you have any pictures of the problem areas?
