Ken Etter is a man that's run the GT classes in Super stock with a 318. Word is he's made at least 540hp in that trim. What's not to like there. :thumbrig:
If I was seriously looking to do a max effort teen, I'd check out as many big powered 340 builds as I could find, and just mirror one of those. Same stroke with just a little less (questionable) breathing capacity with the slightly smaller bore and a few less cubes. I doubt a teen in the same configuration would be more then 5% or at most 10% less power.
Talking about taking one close to the limit? Mike @ MRL has specked out a 340 that will make 650-700hp. I don't know that he's built one yet, and he was looking to use a "R" block, but I'm sure that's easily obtainable without going absolutely to the edge. A little less bore built that way, should be easily kissing 600hp.
2x cubes is fairly easily done these days on most race engines.....Just have to have the wallet for it, which I'm nowhere even close. :D
