Chrysler's at Englishtown Raceway AUG/23

That show is dead....too bad it use to be a great time.

It's only a dead show because no one goes. Not to mention that anyone who used to MHO just complained that there wasn't enough entertainment for them.

Extremely pricey.
Plenty of down time between race classes.
Rude employees.
No wonder attendance is getting worse each year.

Yep! No doubt!
A few employees were anti MoPar and were quit verbal about it.

After 20 straight years these are the reasons I stopped going. Every year they put less and less into the show. They had Big Daddy, Dick Landy and Sox and Martin just to name a few.

The last time I went I was given total crap from the tech inspector for no reason. Not towing my car 5 hours to get crapped on by some idiot.

Haven't missed it in 10 straight years(won't be going this year) the owners of the track don't seem to care anymore...emailed them saying the event has been getting lamer and lamer they said" It'll never be what it use to be,its just a local nj/ny event now.. wow certainly NOT worth the 5 hours of towing back and forth..oh well another one bites the dust.

Me and my son were planning on attending - first time for us
he wanted to race and be part of car show, can you do both ?
he has a pretty heavily modified 1972 Duster.
just trying to find out event details - cant seem to find any..
any info will help

People didn't stop going for no reason ya know. Whoever put the event on let it die a slow death. People kept going and tried to save it but the guys running it just let it die so people found other things to do. Too many other things in the area to do then Waste your time with an event that the guys running it don't even care about.

Well I'm gonna go, it's the first event my barracuda is up to. I don't even think I'll race. Would like to see you local guys though. I'm sick of sweatin my butt off at Carlise in July. Besides it's about us and our cars ,not just a few emp-holes at e-town.
Instead of bitchin why don't we set up a Mopar event in the fall? Maybe ATCO might be interested, maybe we could get some sponsors

Go for it man. It's all you. Get it rolling.

Yeah! I miss the NJ carbecues! I wish we had something that we could all get behind. I stopped going to most car things because they usually suck.

went last year - 1st time in 5 years . did the swap meet and sold stuff. going again to sell and let people see my car for sale.

been to Carlisle and then the Nats 2 weeks ago - both down on vendors and swap meet traffic. moparfest also had empty vendor spots and less foot traffic. must be all cars done. big vendors are leaving midway and going to swap section to still attend

This is so true.
Start a strip joint with 20 hot young women then start downsizing to a few old battle axes and see what happens.

Just saw pictures on FBBO. Some nice cars but man is that show dead. It's really a shame.

I went to all of them for 18 years including the first and have a shirt for each one. The event got smaller and smaller after the first 5 years while getting there from CT gets more and more expensive.

The show is a shadow of its former glory and I don't see it improving anytime soon and see no compelling reason to go.

The Mopar show at The Valley is nicer, I don't get raped on tolls or beat to death with traffic, the track treats you with respect and the show and swap meet are excellent.

so did anyone go?? how was it?? any better then the last few years??

i'd like to see it come back to its former glory. but just don't see it happening.

wow! looked through the pics on fbbo and holy crap was it dead. not sure what the weather was like there but south of the track it rained and in trenton it was raining off and on. sure that affected turnout too..

look how empty those stands are. guess that blows some peoples theory that people go for the racing..lol those stands used to have quite a bit of people in them years ago...

i haven't been there in a few years, i had a couple hours to kill Saturday so i picked up ALV and we took a ride in the duster. it was ok. i bought one thing, it was cheap enough that i still came out ahead even with admission. i saw a few fabo members cars there. i cant tell you the names off the top of my head but there was some cool stuff there. the stands in that pic are the "spectator" side. they had other stuff going on there, so if you were there for the mopar show, you were on the "pit" side. its not like the old days where you had to park on the spectator side and walk over.

the old days both sides of the stands had a bunch of people. damn shame what they let happen to that event.

its not just the tracks fault. the whole hobby has changed. the guys that were into this stuff are much older, and not so into it. the parts aren't as plentiful, the cars aren't as plentiful, and lots of people would rather have the car sit there and collect dust. all the muscle events have died off. the events with the big turnouts are the import stuff. the whole area is over run with vws and Hondas on those weekends. I see plates from all over the place too. it seems like those are the people that are most active in the car hobby right now. i cant even tell you where there is a local cruise nite anymore, yet at the local shopping center once or twice a week there is probably 50-60 kids with wrx, evo, and some other stuff hanging out. its not an organized thing. they just meet up.

its whoever who was running the events fault for sure. they let it die a slow death and wouldn't listen to anyone who had suggestions.

Your talking about 15-20 years ago. Face it the people that used to go and fill the stands are now either
1.still going
2.grouchy old picks that like to just talk about the old days and ***** about how things have changed
3.afraid to take their car for a ride and find it more enjoyable to have the car sit and rot.
4.dead

I don't agree- My experience with e-town is they don't give a damn anymore. They just throw the gates open and hope people show up, it was not always that way.

Lebanon Valley packs them in during a Mopar event, seen it there myself and have been there for several of them. No "big name" sellers in the swap meet but a lot of small guys looking to make a deal and I always come home with something(s).

I like e-town, I cut my teeth there and have raced there dozens of times. There is no compelling reason to go when other tracks are doing it better.
