Anyone Running a cowl induction Hood on a 73 Duster

-
The more everybody agrees, or debates on this topic, the more options keep popping up.
If I had a Crankshaft that was taking a dump, didn't understand the gravity of why the torque converter hub wouldn't mate with the pilot hole. So I decided to grind some off, and one of you guys said, " Hey stupid, what kind of idiotic **** is that ?" I'd really need to take a step back, and shut my mouth, cause you guys would be so right. But if someone looked at my hood, and said, " That's not mopar enough." I'd just laugh in his face ( of course that would be done through the hole in my floor, dash, and windshield. ) It's all subjective to wants, and needs.
What I really want to learn is what has been your most successful method of attaching a scoop to a hood. Glass, bond, weld, bolt on,,, Etc ???

Is ridiculous when people says " Chevy duster", " it's a big mistake" this kind of ****.
Doest matter guys! If you want to put the cowl induction or wherever scoop on your car.
You are out of the " mopar style " because you prefer be different ? Your ride is not badass because the stupid scoop ??
Respect people opinion and preference !
Don't be like kids fighting for the remote control !

I rather see a cowl hood on an old mopar than those big tall ghetto wheels or the ghetto window tint

Hi garyfish340 and GEO

I have the same question "what is the most successful method of attaching a scoop to a hood. Glass, bond, weld, bolt on,,, Etc ???"

How I don`t intend to take my Duster to the racetrack and I don`t want the same scoop than most of the Duster (Six Pack or Snorkel Scoop) I decided to put the cowl induction, In my opniton if really make the Duster looks good.

Do you guys know if has a good visibiltiy for drive on streets with a cowl induction size ....5...or 6 inches?

The cheapest one I found was on ebay.. Just click on "[ame="http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cowl-Induction-hood-scoop-fiberglass-53-L-5H-Camaro-/231306148572?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35daebbadc&vxp=mtr"]Cowl Induction hood scoop fiberglass 53"L 5''H [/ame]" what do you guys think about this one???[ame="http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cowl-Induction-hood-scoop-fiberglass-53-L-5H-Camaro/231306148572?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D23491%26meid%3D38025007051c4ddab0c01fc3cffc609e%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D10073%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D291215999431#ht_2608wt_1224"][ame="http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cowl-Induction-hood-scoop-fiberglass-53-L-5H-Camaro/231306148572?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D23491%26meid%3D38025007051c4ddab0c01fc3cffc609e%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D10073%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D291215999431#ht_2608wt_1224"][ame="http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cowl-Induction-hood-scoop-fiberglass-53-L-5H-Camaro/231306148572?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D23491%26meid%3D38025007051c4ddab0c01fc3cffc609e%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D10073%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D291215999431#ht_2608wt_1224"]

Paul,

Does your Duster has what kind of hood? do you have some picture?

Do you know what is most successful method of attaching a scoop to a hood. Glass, bond, weld, bolt on,,, Etc ???

X3,.. concerning the wheels anyways,..I do like my window tint though,...

Bottom line is "Its yer ride and yer money" so until some of these folks start payin yer bills, and wrenchin on yer car, ya do whatcha wanna do with yer ride...

If all the Duster's here were the same, this site would be prety frickin boring...

Me??? ...I painted mine w/black and grey primer, and I beat it like a government mule...

I'm running a cowl induction hood on my '73 .You can view a few photos of it at my gallery Kens73duster

Sorry Jonny Shark I didn't mean to mislead you...the Duster above is not my Duster...I just found it on the internet which searching for larger wheels.

My Duster is attached below.

I would leave the hood flat rather than put a ridiculous lookin Chevy hood on a Mopar.

I could not use a cowl hood for the simple reason my car is called a Nova too much already!

GEO I don`t have any problem to drive with the Harwood on top of my hood.
It`s possible drive without problems and also I can see both cornes of the hood.
It was the best scoop I found once I don`t want people call me Chevy Duster all the time.

Is a cowl hood OK on a Demon? This was for carb clearance. When I put on the blow through carb hat on a Dominator I don't think this will be enough.

As much as I hate the cowl hoods they unbolt and can be easily swapped out. So it isnt the end of the world.

BUT, if you have a cowl hood you should probably paint the engine compartment black to complete the chevy look.J/K

The cowl hood was already on my Duster when I bought the car. It wouldn't have been my first choice and I didn't really like it at first but it's grown on me. With the side graphics no one should mistake it for a Nova now.

I believe a cowl induction does more than vent hot air. If you have ever opened the vents down by your feet, did you notice how much wind you get? Do you know where that comes from? It comes from the base of the windshield. Yes, most of the air that hits the windshield goes up over the car, but a lot of it creates a high pressure area at the base of the windshield. If you have the bottom of the hood wide open, you probably are negating the effect, but if you seal that to the air cleaner, you are a lot better off than breathing hot engine compartment air.
Are we really sure Chrysler spent engineering time on hood scoops, or did they go with the prevailing thought that if you have a forward facing hole, that it MUST be putting air in. Of course, any scoop they put on there would make more power again over hot engine air.
When the 98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 was created, they had hood vents behind the radiator. ( Ever notice your hood doing all sorts of crazy dancing around at speed?)They found that the air going up and over the front of the vehicle created a vacuum on the forward half of the hood, thereby pulling the hot air out of the engine compartment. I know a GC is less aerodynamic than most cars overall, but the very front cant be much worst than our Dusters and Darts, & could actually be a bit better. Maybe the front of the hood isn't the best place to try to force air down our engines throats. Makes me go hmmmmm.
That said, I won't be putting a cowl hood on my car, but maybe some induction ducting underneath.

Another chevy Duster. Even the Chrysler engineers researched this scoop & found it not worth having!

LMAO I work for Chrysler and I wouldn't let some of the engineers design a tooth pick. Considering I own 5 Mopars (4 classics) and work for Chrysler(or what the whiners call Fiat) and been playing with these cars for 30 years, I'd have no problem throwing a cowl hood on my cars for engine clearance and that low pressure air at the base of the windshield. If you want to call my car a chevy, don't get offended when I tell you to F- off.
