Computer OS advice/help

No refund on this machine, only exchange for same model.

So I am stuck with it. I have to make the best of it and it looks like I will just have to a find and buy a Win 7 CD, I see them on Ebay w/COA. It has nothing on the HDD, it is a clean 750GB drive.

You got ripped off. For that kind of money you can buy a perfectly usable new or used machine WITH a legit copy of the OS

I recently bought a Dell multi core (i5?) I forget with Winhozed 7 on it for 200 bucks. This was used off Craigslist. You cannot hardly buy a legit copy of W7 so far as I know, for that.

Normally these types of machines have a reinstall setup on a separate partition so you can refresh the HD drive to "just like" it came out of the box. Normally these also have software pre-installed so you can BURN a set of "restore" CD/ DVDs

Trying to use Xtra Putrid is silly. It's not supported, and won't be very long before stuff like Firefox, most any software, and even anti virus won't work on XP

You need Winhoared 7 or "cough gag" Whinehozed ate

I use Linux Mint. It's free.

If you can return that and trade for something that works, I would

I cannot think of a single reason why someone would "debrand" a computer. The computer manufacturer PAID Microcrap for a license for whatever was on that machine. It should have had a W7 or whatever, sticker on the machine. (LOOK, does it? If so you can easily download and install W7)
