Let´s keep talking.

Very fine if taken care of proper. Treat them nice and they will serve you well.
Not worth anything if it is lying to you.
I seen a guy grab a torque wrench once when he shoulda been grabbing a breaker bar or impact wrench. Had to walk away.

Torque wrenches are great but they also need to be accurate. I am a machinist in a large manufacturing plant and all my tools are calibrated annually. The maintenance department has many torque wrenches and they too are required to be calibrated annually. I'm not sure how they calibrate them, I would guess with some type of pull meter that has a given known resistance. An inaccurate torque wrench can do more damage then good.

Thanks guys. Asking about the quality.

I have one made by Harbor Freight and want to replace it for a better one. I´m searching about possibilities.

How to know if they are accurate?

Very high quality. I have one very similar to it. Those rarely get out of calibration. You can get them cheap because people are too lazy to look at the dial and pull the handle too. Some of them like mine, have a light on them that lights up as well when the set torque is reached.

X 2 Rusty. These are good quality and are very accurate. The dial wrenches aren't as handy to use as the clicker type. tmm

Thanks guys!!

Now I have a click torque wrenche made by http://www.harborfreight.com/, Item #239.

They look good but I don´t feel that can do an accurate job. I know that dial wrenches are hardder to use. But I want precision first!

Thanks agains.

And how do you think thay can cost?? I found one very very good condition. It´s about US$ 250,00. They worth it????

They are pricey but are better quality then the click type or beam type IMO. The Snapon TorqueOmeters were what we were using for years in the manufacturing and testing of locknuts before going to automatic torque testers. These Snapons were calibrated regularly by an outside service for the company.
You can break them if you don't treat them right. Like any torque wrench they are not "breaker bars" and are not meant to be working past the torque rating.
I myself have 100 foot lb. and 30 inch lb. TorqueOmeters. I will admit I use a Craftsman click type on lug nuts though.

All that aside, how much will you use this? Mine have sat in their box probably 98% of the time I've owned them.

The next one I get is going to be digital with the the audible beep when the specified torque is met.

Thanks guys! I will buy it tomorrow.

I do not use frequently. But I a mechanic lover and I like to use the best tools I can put my hands.

Thanks Daves!

I always search for properly use a tool or any other device. I used my Pittsburgh torque wrench very carefully and in the right way. The same will be with the SnapOn!

Thanks for the Tips.

Too much. They are all over Ebay for cheap. They are antiques. I found the one I have for like 65 shipped and it torques to 250.

Oh Rusty, just bought it. I look over again on eBay and found not better. Have someone cheaper, but don´t look so nice as this one. But thanks a lot for the advice.

We have one that my dad purchased in the 80s. Looks exactly like the one you pictured. If you keep it in the box and only use it as a torque wrench, then it'll obviously last at least 30 years.

We typically had all our torque wrenches on a six month calibration cycle in my previous job. The Snap-On Torqometer units are very accurate and well worth using. I am sure that most people are aware that the click type should be backed all the way off when not used because the spring will take a set and affect accuracy.

Thanks 48jeep! I will not use the Snap-On TorqOmeter professionally, just a few times. I always backed my Pisttsburgh torque wrench when not in use. This is a good advice.

Hey Serj! This one that I bought was fabricated in november 1995. I have respect with tools. Always use the way the manual indicates. That´s why is good to have a lot of tool, each one for a propose.
