1/16th thick abs, heat gun. various sockets for molding.

I made it in 2 pcs the large one that seperates the copper ring from the steering wheel and then made the inner cup so that big circlip does not contact it. Before you take that big clip off mark its location on the wheel cause it is the turn signal cancellor tab as well. If any of you fellow mopar people need this done or more details let me know.

I would have more than happy to buy the used one but I was thinking that the used one had plastic as old as mine. I was thinking of ways to isolate the copper ring like plastidip and liquid tape but figured I could form something with force and heat. Worked out well.

Maybe some liquid electrical tape? Pretty strong when it cures.

Define strong. Durable and dense are different properties. The steel ring puts quite a bit of pressure on the plastic. Anything that could squish out will. What the factory used lasts about 40 years. Tough stuff.

Sticks well to a clean surface, a little tougher than plastigrip, will insulate and it is pliable (like heat shrink tubing) when dry. I have used it between metal plates to form a electrically neutral surface when I installed an hydrogen generator on my kids car and the stupid pwm (pulse width modulator) for adjusting the amp draw had to be negative neutral (like using a positive ground item on a neg ground vehicle) Still working great after 2 yrs of vibration. The price isnot to bad either around 8 for 2 oz. I love the stuff for putting around nicked wires that just have insulation nicks. Hope it helped. Can find it at grainger or electrical sections of better hardware stores.
Just reread all the posts and am starting to think the abs idea is better. Well the post I am putting up gave me a chance to use my brain again. LOL
