“Keeping the Dream Alive”; Making a 2,100-mile road trip in an old Mopar.

Our daughter, 15 yrs old, has traveled all over the country, and around the world with us beginning at a very young age. However, I just took her first real adventure. Four weeks ago on our OR vacation, she and I pulled my '67 'cuda f/b out of LOOONNGGG time storage and prepped her for the road, including gear change from 3.91's to a more fuel friendly 2.76's. I've owned the car at least 17yrs, stored nearly the entire time. and something in excess of 5 yrs storage before I bought her.

So we drove it from McMinnville, OR to Sarasota County, FL over seven days. About 3500 miles including detours... Through the hottest states, during the hottest month, without A/C. The blessing was that we hit cool temps in WY and NE, actually drove most of both states with the windows up.

Had only two minor issues. In Grand Island, NE, the distributor crapped out by "loosing" the breaker plate. The closest replacement I could find was in Lincoln, NE, the correct direction and within the 100 mile AAA tow limit. The driver took us straight to the O'Reilly's store then to the motel for drop off.

The second issue was taking a rock through the radiator at Valdosta, GA. Managed to get back on the road within only a coupla hrs with JB Weld and Alum-a-Seal radiator stop leak.

It was a great father / daughter time, and proof that things were just about as worry free "back then" as they are now, just with less technology. Good thing, since her car is 5 yrs older that the 'cuda. Pics of both below:
