“Keeping the Dream Alive”; Making a 2,100-mile road trip in an old Mopar.

Very awesome! I told the wife that as soon as the 360 is in the duster and everything else is squared away we would take it from Seattle to Minnesota (my family) or Oklahoma (hers)

That is living the dream. I have wanted to road trip in an old muscle car for as long as I can remember!
Nice photos!

Our daughter, 15 yrs old, has traveled all over the country, and around the world with us beginning at a very young age. However, I just took her first real adventure. Four weeks ago on our OR vacation, she and I pulled my '67 'cuda f/b out of LOOONNGGG time storage and prepped her for the road, including gear change from 3.91's to a more fuel friendly 2.76's. I've owned the car at least 17yrs, stored nearly the entire time. and something in excess of 5 yrs storage before I bought her.

So we drove it from McMinnville, OR to Sarasota County, FL over seven days. About 3500 miles including detours... Through the hottest states, during the hottest month, without A/C. The blessing was that we hit cool temps in WY and NE, actually drove most of both states with the windows up.

Had only two minor issues. In Grand Island, NE, the distributor crapped out by "loosing" the breaker plate. The closest replacement I could find was in Lincoln, NE, the correct direction and within the 100 mile AAA tow limit. The driver took us straight to the O'Reilly's store then to the motel for drop off.

The second issue was taking a rock through the radiator at Valdosta, GA. Managed to get back on the road within only a coupla hrs with JB Weld and Alum-a-Seal radiator stop leak.

It was a great father / daughter time, and proof that things were just about as worry free "back then" as they are now, just with less technology. Good thing, since her car is 5 yrs older that the 'cuda. Pics of both below:

Great pics,
When you came thru Beckley WV did you keep going north to Ohio?
That looks like the Bridge from Parkersburg WV RT 50 to the Ohio line.
If you were on RT 50 you came within 3 miles of my place.
More pictures if you have them please.

We drove I-64 to I-77 and then 33 into Ohio. We have a bunch of pictures, but the ones I posted earlier represent a good overall summary of the trip. Thanks.

Congratulations, Nothing like living the dream, on the open road. Looks like you and your wife had a lot of fun.

Awesome, I find these old cars more conformable on long road trips. I got also a G6 and I'm stiff after a long drive but my 78 Magnum is more like sitting on the couch at home

Don that's awesome! I see you broke the wife in, looks like a great trip. I would like to do that one day

Great ... looks like a fun time had by all and now you have to plan for next year.. here's an idea. Moparfest in southern Ontario. See you next summer and we'll come south to meet ya.

My Dads 67 cuda is my daily driver for now...I usually go home every other weekend...takes me about 6 1/2 hours each way...LOL
Thanks for the story and pics

That's awesome to see that people are taking out there classic cars for long road trips! Ive done a similar trip from California to Minnesota for the Powercruise event in July and to see my friends in my 72 dart w/318 5spd and no a/c in early summer! Talk about getting chard in Nevada and parts of Utah! Been doing it every year since 2012 but did it in a newer car this year, and didn't get to go to the Powercruise event which sucked but I still had one hell of a good time and can't wait to do it next year!!
