Horrific crash at Little River Dragway

Small dragstrip outside of Temple Texas.
It happened just as test n tune was starting, maybe 10 cars had gone down the track. The car in front of me, a 2013 or 14 Mustang, takes off and I'm waiting to do my burnout when suddenly I see car parts flying everywhere about 2/3 of the way down the 1/4 mile. The Mustang, which was in the right lane, went sideways to the right with the front end of the car up over the top of the guard rail and the back end still on the track. The metal railing basically sawed the car in half just behind the driver and the front end was outside of the track. The car never rolled. The front half kept sliding and turned back straight, it hit a large oak tree at probably 80mph or faster, according to people who were along the fence. The back end wound up all over both lanes of the track. The driver was killed instantly, as far as we could tell. It's amazing none of the spectators were hit by flying debris. Although no announcement was made, it was obvious that the track would be closed for the rest of the night for cleanup and investigation by authorities. We trailered the car and came back home. It all happened right in front of the driver's brother who was standing against the fence.
