I had an Edelbrock 1406 on my car for a while. Never ran right. Put a Holley on and never looked back. If you are determined to keep the Edelbrock carb, block off your heat crossover. You don't need it in CA. Any carb hates heat, but these Edelbrocks really hate heat. Boils the fuel off in no time.
When you mean heat cross over I am pretty sure it is blocked or not even there in the performer manifold either that or the gaskets don't have the holes for it.
