Ok I tried to find my answer ad I'm sure it is here but simply cant. My 65 barracuda slant six won't start. I was hooking up electric fans I wired the positive to my battery terminal strip and the ignition source for the fans to the top of the voltage regulator. Went to start the car to check the fans and no start.

The only thing I can think is I blew the voltage regulator but that just doesn't make sense to me.

Do you mean you hooked the fan motors directly to the IGN connector on the regulator? Or did you use that to trigger a RELAY for the fan power?

I'm guessing the former. Of course it hurt something. That ignition circuit was never designed to power fan motors. Like plugging a welder into your bedside outlet.

No I did not power the fans from the ignition signal. The controller has an ignition signal line. It is supposed to get power when the ignition is on just like your radio to indicate the ignition switch is on. The problem is I actually plugged the ignition signal line for the fans in the field side of the regulator.

Okay sorry nevermind I jumped to conclusions. I charged the battery some and gave it a try again looks like the battery was low and I may have flooded the engine.

the field side of the regulator.

You certainly don't want it there

Please be clear. I don't have Rusty's crystal ball. We cannot see what you are doing. For all we know, you are a NASA scientist trying to convert a Farmall Regular into a delivery system for the space station.
