naturally aspirated, non stroker, 60 over, 360, 500hp, is it possible?

It's not THAT hard to make 500hp in a NA, stock stroke 360. Zero deck, flat top pistons, compression, ported W-2's, ported E-brocks, ported EQ heads (take your pick), a cam with 250deg @ .05 (or more), .570 lift or greater.

At .060 over, hope cylinder walls are stiff enough.

No problem at all. Mike at MRL Performance built me a very streetable 340 that makes 470hp, has basically stock edelbrock heads and not even that big of a cam.

It's easy to do. You need good machining and someone that knows what stuff works. That being said - a 500hp 360 can be a little cantakerous depending on your opinions on streetable. If the car isn't original the addition of a 4" crank, with the same parts and machining/work the 500hp 360 will need, you can have a milder 500hp with more torque, at an rpm that's easier for most people to live with.

Damn right it's possible. And then some.

* WOW really? Tell us what was done to the 340.My stroked 318/390 made less than that..

Here's the thread on it. Major secrets are light pistons with custom ring pack, hydraulic roller, K1 H-beams, and a really good builder.

Here's a video of it in the car with a street roll of ~5-70 with a 3.23 ring in the back.

I'd say it cruises rich and I'm getting 13+ mpg city without trying. Idles nicely at 900.

*Very impressive!! I guess I'm close with 450HP and 490 TRQ..I'll get the girlfriend to video the fish on a roll...P.S. love the stick!!:burnout:

That's cool I saw that video yesterday didn't realize it was your car. What size tires you have in the back, and many RPMs you turning at highway speeds? I have a 2.94 gearset for my Duster with 28" tires and I'm thinking of picking up some cheap 3.23 gears as it's a little too tall for my driving. Sounds awesome btw.

To the OP back in the 1970s Chrysler developed the W2 racing heads for NASCAR which made over 1.5 hp/c.i. (600 HP) in a 360 so just keeping that in mind 500 is definitely doable with modern aftermarket 'street' heads. Just make sure you got the right gearing + trans setup.

you need to find the right dyno.......dyno hp are correct for standard air 60 degrees....29.92 baro...water temp controlled...

dyno is a tool ...to make adjustment ...breaking in engine...compare carbs...intake manifold...compare the changes....to accept the HP without running the car down the track is foolish...

Our 71 Dart ran 10.33 @ 128.22 at Bakersfield last year....plug the weight of the car into a calculator and et time...you get just over 511 HP....and if I CORRECT that ET to sea level like a dyno would...I get around 530 HP....says it should run 10.11 at sea level...60 degree ...29.92 baro..

that is a360 .060 with hughes cnc eddy heads...260/264 hughes cam....

71 Demon 360...030....weight 3000 lbs with driver...10.72 in Sacramento...

Your HP is 481.31 computed from your vehicle weight of 3000 pounds and ET of 10.72 seconds.

470 HP with 3300 lbs car.....

Your ET / MPH computed from your vehicle weight of 3300 pounds and HP of 470 is 11.15 seconds and MPH of 121.17 MPH

their is no correct factor for a drag strip...as they say...the clocks dont lie....

yes..et is chassis efficiency....but the MPH is HP

I have 225/60-15's now. Diameter of 25.6. That's mainly why I did the roll (that and the stock small u-joint driveshaft that is real iffy at this power level). It's about 3050rpm at 70mph with the 3.23:1. With an automatic it would be more than that due to converter slip.

boring a block .060 doesn't make hp,if your looking for 500 plus hp .030 would be better.

Yep! What he said. Save the overbore for when you need it. Less the better. HP comes from a good flowing heads & intake, exhaust and a cam to match.

Right , not that hard , just that expensive .

Block was already bored when I got it unfortunately.

Is it fresh at 60 over or used & abused?

Blocks aren't expensive. May want to find a stock one in the boneyard. I've seen several .060 over 360's that ran hot so I stay away from anything over .030-.040 on them. Many will tell you they have had no issue and that may be they get a good block 1st shot or they actually had it sonic checked which few of us actually get done, including myself.

Apples to oranges with limited info. The street manners of both might be very different and impossible to compare with typing or youtube videos. And as someone noted, not a good idea to compare different dyno numbers.
