Best Vinyl Dye
I used SEM Color Coat in Satin Black (
PN#15243). I highly recommend it! I used it on all
the interior plactics, seat backs and steering wheel. It looks great and covers well.
As already stated, preparation is key. Here are the steps I took:
- Clean piece thoroughly with soap and water
- Take a red scotch bright pad to the piece
- Rinse again/dry
- Spray piece with adhesion promoter (let it set up for about 5-10 minutes so it softens the plastic/vinyl)
- Spray piece again with light coat of adhesion promoter just before you spray with SEM vinyl dye (It helps to bond the promoter and the dye)
- Spray with SEM vinyl dye
- Add addtional coats of vinyl dye if needed. (I usually do 2-3 coats)
*Do not use clear coat. It makes the black turn grey in color.
