long story short i bought a 1977 power wagon that i KNEW had bad wiring in the Electronic distributor. that said i ordered a kit from Jegs reinstalled GREAT....

1st issue was no spark realized we had no power to the ballast resistor . Great got that fixed
but I cant seem to find the right wire to get the ignition position #2 or "start" coming through the firewall. thus starter keeps spinning the way we are wired.
can anyone save me from breaking into the ignition switch to chase that wire that will give me Ignition Start so i can button this truck back together??

First may I suggest that stuff like "easy answer" and !!!HELP!!! are not good titles for a thread.

Somewhere I saw diagrams for these............. There's a 79 here........ http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=24

Was this a "lean burn" setup? I think that complicates things a bit

Basically, most Mopars have TWO ignition sources, "run" and "start" or coil resistor bypass, used to be IGN1 and IGN2

I see in this 79 things have changed a bit

Does your starter relay have 4 or 5 terminals? Does it have "an extra" one called "bal?" See page 20 of that diagram

The BAL terminal of the start relay is wire J9 - 14 PK (PinK) NOTICE that it goes right up to the coil+ terminal of the ballast. In earlier cars / trucks, this wire comes from the IGN switch, and provides "hot" 12V in crank

In this diagram, "Ignition run" comes off the lower right of the ballast, wire J10C - 18RE (REd)

Notice it goes to a SPLICE immediately to the right. This is the 12V switched ignition feed, and supplies a whole bunch of "stuff"

Notice J10A -18RE goes up and feeds one pin of the ECU

Most these girls, the "run" voltage goes dead in cranking. This means you get no ignition voltage, except through the start circuit. I don't know if this is the case in the later trucks, or not

Not exactly my question. 79 and 77 trucks are WAY diffrent 79 has diagonistics and much more. I simply need o know what color teh 2 ignition swith wires are coming directly from the switch

I am lost. You have no "start" wire coming thru the firewall, but the starter cranks and cranks "the way we are wired". How is that? Photos would help us help you. I would call the wires "crank" (yellow), "IGN1" or "primary ignition w/ key in "run" position (blue), and "IGN2" or "ignition while cranking" (brown). Colors are for my Mopars and probably thru 1970's. Your year might have the seat-belt interlock in those circuits.

Ok this one helps. I have a FEW red wires where someone rewired. I have wires on the bay side of the bulkhead that are all red. but basically I need the Brown one that runs down the column and the blue one so now i can rewire
THANK YOU very helpful and seems simple now
as far as the googled answer above thank you but i had that info a while back and it really didnt put it all together for my question but thanks..
