Thing I hate most about my/all A-bodies

-
I guess I'm lucky. So far, everything I didn't like about my car, I was able to change to something I did like. Being able to register it without taking out a mortgage would be nice though....Anyone check their DMV fees this year as compared to last year? I forget.....why do we need to register our cars every year? Did they forget who owns it?

$60 bucks a year to register my 65' Cuda in Texas, course I told em I paid $600 for it. (had my fingers crossed doesn't that count).

1. pulling up to a red light and sitting next to a brand new challenger and looking over and expecting some sort of nod, or acknowledgment of the historical heritage or lineage, then realize that the person behind the wheel of the challenger has no clue about that at all.

Yeah this one still surprises me too. People are so damn ignorant and I'm certain they haven't a clue that Plymouth was actually part of the Mopar family at one point.

How about the sympathetic looks you get from some people like oh that poor old man has to drive that old car cause he can't afford a new one. Or the dorks nowadays at the autoparts stores that would come running out if ya had a scented exhaust or ground effects lighting on your honda but don't even acknowledge that you just drove up in a classic muscle car.

Bunch of Fargen Lops, smoke em off a light, piss on em and enjoy !!!

People that stop to talk to me about my Demon and I forget why I went to the store in the first place ..

Headers are a pain in the a#!
takes a little bit to dial in your trans pressure for shift points
I never get to see the back of ford performance cars
people bugging you at the stop light about how cool your car is
my 2 1/2 year old telling me to make the vroom vroom go faster
guys driving Camaros wont make eye contact at the stop light
keeping your ego at a manageable level while driving your mopar
people always thinking your running a big block when they hear your smallblock idle

yes people its not always easy or cheap but if it were they would call them fords

I'm head over heels in love with most everything Mopar. I count all Plymouth/Dodge/Chrysler/Desoto owners as sort of brothers in arms. I like A, B, E, and even C bodies. I prefer the muscle car years but appreciate them all. When it comes to complaints about A-bodies, I do have a few.

I hate that steering linkage runs through the header tubes.

I hate the water leak issue around the cowl area. (an issue with the B-bodies I've had too)

I understand that parts can be horrible to find (in part because production numbers were lower than brand X cars) but I hate that so many cars are being parted out because they're often worth more in parts than they are completed.

I hate that the brand X owners tend to look down on all Mopars like they're nothing special even though their cars are the ones that are 10 times more common.

I hate that most people will never understand the much greater lengths it takes to fix up, restore, or hotrod a Mopar compared to the vehicles out there that you can purchase all the new reproduced parts for.

I love to see cars that are restored but I hate that there are so many 'Mopar purists' out there that don't appreciate my modified cars. You don't seem to see that as much with the owners of other makes.

I hate the fact that NASCAR constantly made rule changes 'back in the day' that crippled Mopar's ability to dominate. Untethered, Chrysler's popularity with the general public might have eventually grown more instead of becoming a red headed step child of the American auto industry.

I hate the fact that small and big block transmissions don't interchange.

Yeah, I hate the small bolt pattern wheels like so many others. I also hated the left handed lug nuts.

The funny thing is that most of the things that I've listed on my 'hate' list are also part of why I love these cars too.

$67 to register your car? Over here in the land of Aus I have four cars and the valiant charger is the cheapest to register at $750. My Falcon XR8 ute is the dearest at $1400 to register. Every time I take my charger out I find someone saying "Hey Charger" with the 2 finger salute! This was the advertising slogan when the Valiant Charger was released here in 1971 and the older of our species all still remember it as it was one of the most successful ad campains ever. I have friends with ninety thousand dollar HSV holdens and when I ask them can you go to a service station (GAS STATION) and fill up does it produce a crowd telling you nice car mate and what is the specs on it , they say no one says that to them. I just tell them if you want some attention just buy a Valiant charger!

Cant believe some of you have to pay that much to register your vehicles. I pay a 1 time DMV fee of $50 when first registering as antique. That's it , no yearly fee's, property taxes, inspections, blah blah !!

me too on the other side of va.but maybe we need to keep it quiet

I hate that it's going to be about a year before I can get started on the total refurb, and about 5 years before it's "done"

The one thing i hate is trying to source parts due to rarity but in saying that once im driving her all is forgotten.sounds like some thing out of a **** script !:happy1:
Just remembered one more FREIGHT TO OZ talk about getting reamed !!!

I hate that our car because it is an absolute babe magnet.. and I am quite happily married..

I hate it because every time I park it in a public place, someone gas a story to tell me..

I hate it because art car shows, only b and e bodies win in the "Chrysler" category..

Silly wiring and questionable engineering

high revving on the highway even with bigger tires and 3.23 gears..

..and the car isn't mine..it the kids !

Aha,
A chink in the Australian Armor, that's actually the 1st Bad Thing I've heard about living down under.

The lame engineering in the electrical system! 10 ga wires that charge through the amp gauge yet are connected at the firewall bulkhead with spade connectors? How about a blower and AC system with switches that were designed for a load of about 10 AMPs less than what the thing actually draws so you can get a slow burn on everything! :)

OK, these are just some of the meandering thoughts that pop into my head:

I wonder what Nova owners would think if we all started saying "NICE DUSTER!" to them.

Do you suppose they'd feel insulted or complimented?

And if we seriously were to mis-identify their Novas would that mean that we'd be idiots?

And if was a sign that we were idiots, does that suggest that there's a lot of morons out there with bowties on their cars? Hmmmm....

Every time, and I mean every time I take my '72 340 original Duster out for a drive some know it all wants to one up me with " I had one just like that, but it had a Hemi in it." Like he doesn't realize I rebuilt, and have owned this car since my father sold it to me in '80, that the 340 was the biggest engine you could get in one. Had a guy actually argue with me the one time I did correct him. And he swore it was factory. And I still get "Hey, that thing got a six pack?" Now I just reply "Yeah." What the hell.

The factory not offering >

For 1968 and 1969 >

A 340 with a 'Mechanical' Camshaft, 11.0-1 Pistons, Aluminum Intake and
Carter 750 AVS and Air Induction Hood to go with 4.10 Gears.

Just to 'Ram It To' to the '68 and 69' Z-28 Camaro's

Can't say I "hate" anything about mine, though I'm not real crazy about the sag-o-matic rear springs.
Hey, they're old cars...you gotta expect some issues. I'm a bit surprised how much is still available for them.

The crusty Ammeter connectors that weren't giving a full circuit, and leaving me stumped for over a year (this was some years back)...

No other complaints :burnout: these cars are flawless IN MY EYES.
