My GenIII Hemi retrofit project is starting to evolve (as these things often do) and while I'm a huge Classic Mopar guy, I gotta say there were benefits to driving a new Challenger that I couldn't deny...a big one being the lack of interior road noise. I see the Dynamat stuff every time I'm in my local parts store. I know it's certainly not cheap, but if laying this stuff down cuts down on unnecessary road noise, I'll pull the pin and make it happen.

Any input/advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It is some good stuff and works well. But it is way overpriced in my opinion. I have afew more spots on my duster I want to do so I'm thinking of trying some of the cheaper sound deadning mat.

Have you guys seen the new black dynomatt? I'm going to use that in my trunk.

I used Dyna mat on my car and this (Boom Mat) on my wife's. Identical and way cheaper.

100' roll does the car from front to back including some for the doors....convertible so you may need more for the roof of a hard top. I will say I still have some left so it may cover it all.

Makes a night and day difference in how quiet and solid your car will feel.

You guys have me thinking about adding some sound deadener (since I have none at all)

I just called Dynamat. They recommended doing everything with Dynamat Extreme. Then on the floor, trunk and firewalls using Dynapad over that. He said to buy 2 bulk packs of the Dynamat Extreme and 1 Dynapad.

Check out something called Raam (I think that's how it's spelled). A couple of my friends went with it and are DELIGHTED. I've still got a gallon of LizardSkin, unopened ... after like 4 years now (typical of my slow-azz build LOL) ... so don't ask me. :-D

And how much is that? It seems to me that Dynamat is the most expensive...

I'm in a quandary...I want this thing much quieter than my last one, but I'm trying to put it on a diet too...seems every place I find weight savings, I find a way to gain it all back... :(

Peel n' Seal from Lowes. I used to have to yell at people in the car to converse just from road noise. Now you can talk normally. About $30 did the whole floor of my 4 door. THat's about 2 1/2 rolls.

It's in the window aisle. Window flashing. I tried Bituthane before (pronounced bitchathane) and it didnt do as well. It was also not as sticky.

It is for sure worth the extra money, if you are worried about the money then you started out in trouble from the start lol!! I did my whole car interior and headliner used both the black and shiny stuff.

I used Fatmat in my Duster. Awesome stuff. They even included a dynamat sample with the purchase, it wasn't very impressive. Thinner, less tacky, more than 2x the cost. No thanks.

So far I've done the floor, the parts of my fold down seat that got covered with carpet, and the roof under the headliner. Makes a big difference, a lot less cabin noise and heat. I'll probably do the doors and trunk once I finish swapping to the '71 doors and tail panel.

145$ for one bulk pack. 9 sheets. Each sheet is 18" x 32". So each sheet cover just over 4 sq/ft.

149$ for one dyna pad which is 54"x32". This step was said to be optional.

Very true

A.) You need to realize that for whatever reason, on my side of the border it's almost double what it is Stateside, and B.) I asked if it was WORTH the money. Not only has everyone been pretty unamimous that it's worth the $ AND the effort, and you guys have given some more cost effective solutions. If I was buying Dynamat brand here, I'm well over $600 up here...that's an engine harness, or almost a set of TTI's for the 5.7, etc, you know? I want to spend effectively towards the goal, is all...

I'm sure any matting is better than none. I've driven mine for 12 years with none at all. If cost is how you are describing it in your area I'd use cheaper stuff and buy the mechanical goodies with your savings.

Dang for $600 I could do almost 3 cars with the Fatmat "rattletrap" product I used. I don't need to spend that kind of money for a logo. In fact, I bought my fatmat "logo free". It goes under the carpet! Who cares what it looks like.

It definitely adds weight to the car, which is a bummer, but its worth it.

Not sure where you are buying your dynamat but $600 is way too much, I got all mine to complete my car for around $300, don't be afraid to shop around to find good deals like I did. Those copycat types are exactly that and they are not expensive because they have no real quality to ask more for it.

It's a "North of the Border" thing. The Milodon conversion pan for the Hemi is ~$212 at Summit, $450 locally. The Walbro in-tank pump from Tanks Inc is $235 from them, $425 locally. A lot of this stuff i have to prepare a bit in advance and just ship up from the US. If Dynamat or something similar wasn't worth the cost/effort, then I go no further. Seeing as the general consensus is "Do it!" I'll look for the most cost effective option I can find here. If I can't find it here, I'll buy South of the line...

I did the Peel 'n Seal from Lowe's on my '70 Pickup (not Dodge). $12.50 for a 6" x 25' roll. Installed clean and easy. About 2 rolls did the job. Make sure you get Peel 'n Seal though. Ran a little short so went into Home Depot and bought their version. It was a tarry mess to use, not near as clean as the P 'n S. Then topped it off with EZ Cool http://www.lobucrod.com/ $35 for a 4' x 10' roll. You have to use spray adhesive so I don't know about a roof application but it was great on the floor of my cab. Top photo is the P 'n S, bottom photo is the EZ Cool. Sealed all seams with aluminum tape. I think I've got about $80 in the above install.

Hillbilly Dynamat from Lowe's. It was around $30 a roll last year. I used 3M spray adhesive to hold it down and used a closed cell carpet pad in the wells under the bucket seats to level the floor out for the insulation. It took one roll with some left over. I also used the pad on the trunk bulkhead (68 notch). The pictures are early in the process. I covered the entire floor, including hump, with the mat.

There is also hush mat which comes in black. I'm a dealer for them so pm me if you are interested. Maybe a group buy if many are interested.
