I called and ordered a grill emblem for 1966 valiant to go on my car. When I received the item it had a 1 inch divit on the driver side edge where the casting was missing . I called and explained the problem along with pic,s . I was told that it was that way because the part that was sent to the maker of the emblems also had the same defect , I asked for a $20.00 credit on my next purchase and was told no . I could send the part back and they woul wave the 20% restocking fee . This means that I would receive only my $49.99 purchase price back and would have to eat the shipping back to them as well as the orginial shipping cost to me , $12.00 plus dollars. so I would be out over $ 20.00 in shipping costs. So I told them that I would keep the piece but would no longer buy anything else from them including the $550.00 worth of tail and front turn signal lenses . SO beware if you need parts from Laysons buy them at the shows only that way you can inspect before you buy . If they don't have it on hand do not buy. View attachment small afx 009.jpg

That almost looks like damage to me, not a casting problem? I've not been a customer to this point, but I hope Rick will make things right for you...

maybe that's why I have not heard a word about the header panel letters and black armrests for my 67 fastback that I ordered, they list the parts, email confirm they recieved order,
but no word since. I guess they never had the parts or don't want my business.

i'm not here to bad mouth Layson's. I just wish they answered my email concerning my parts.

That looks more like damage than cast that way.

To all the great folks that told me to contact Rick on this issue, Many Thanks , I have already done this and what I stated in my post is exactly what was told to me by Rick . When I called back to Laysons the day after I sent the pic's I spoke with Rick and he put me on hold and talked with Dave , When he came back on the line I was told that it was a casting issue and that they would refund me the cost of the part but I would have to eat the shipping charges both ways , the only concession I would receive was the waver of the 20% restocking fees . What I asked for was a simple $20.00 credit on my next order and was told NO way. SORRY. so I elected to just keep the part , the shipping both ways would be about $20.00 or the same amount of credit I asked for . Again Thanks John

Hogwash, a casting defect would be plated over just like the rest of the part. That part was chipped after plating. That aint NCIS stuff. Layson, just pony up the $20 credit! I think bad press on THIS site is much more expensive.........

Any Good company or person would have Fixed the mold they made using the broken part so that the New part would be good. I agree with most of these guys That is not a casting defect.
Just one more reason to be leery of re-pop parts. Thanks for the heads up on the Crappy customer service.

X2,

What the hell is 20$ in a few years you will barely be able to buy a stick of Chinkese manufactured Bazooka Joe. Remarkable how companies stay in business anymore.

$20 Credit or refund = $20

Bad Press leading to future lost sales = Priceless

Looks like a piece of garbage to me. Layson's should never have accepted that from the manufacturer.

I vote for damage and agree that the edge of the missing section is not chromed.

Never buy from Laysons unless you do it in person at a car show. It is the only way I can deal with them and know I will get what I am paying for. Have heard to much from people that are not satisified with their quality. :protest:

can you post a picture of the front of the emblem why is there red over flow paint on the back side of that emblem? just curious. Lawrence

That is what I was thinking. It looks like it was attached to something that was painted red and not taped off good.

Let me get this straight. Just because you are a member of FABO you get the 20% restocking fee waved ?
What kind of BS is that ? So average Joe gets nothing. What a crock.

They sold you junk, they should make it right. Period.

Just another, in the long line, of nightmare laysons stories.

I would go Chevy, before I bought a thing from these guys.

Thanks for sharing your experience dealing with a vender, no matter which
vender. Good or bad It helps us all to be informed.

I have purchased nothing from Laysons, but in the "short" period I have been a FABO member, I have seen multiple threads discussing their service, or lack there of. Far more bad than good. I doubt that I will ever gamble on dealing with them due to this. But hey, I'm only one Mopar owner.
Edit: By the way, that piece of junk never should have been shipped, period.

Rick from Laysons answered my PM and assured me my parts will be shipped as soon as the manufacture fills the order. I understand parts for a 40 yearold car can be hard to come by,so I will wait and will continue doing business with Layson's.
