I am reading that the clean up crews in Dallas are treating the items in the sick mans apartment like they are still contagious, days after he left. Does that mean that the Ebola germ can live outside the body and how long?

That is some scary sh*t, right there!
So, a discarded tissue could start an epidemic ?

I've read the HIV virus can live like seven days with no host, just sittin there.

Honestly though, Ebola has been here since the 1980s. The media as usual is makin stuff worse.......not that I think it needs to be made light of.

Not true. HIV is a very fragile virus, it dies almost immediately when exposed to air. Meaning, if the body fluid hosting it dries up, its dead.

From a "chances you'll get it if exposed" perspective, HIV is one of the least scary viruses out there. Hepatitis, on the other hand, is much more resilient and can hang around for days. Which is why EMS personnel are vaccinated against Hep B, leaving only Hep C as a possible exposure problem.

Supposedly the guy in Texas was infected when he carried an infected and symptomatic woman from a car into the hospital, which sounds like Ebola is a more easily spread than some of the media stories out there. Not that it warrants full panic mode, but the level of precautions that the medical personnel are taking seem more appropriate.

The way people snot and snort around here makes me
not want to leave the house let alone shop, eat or use
a public facility.

NUKE AFRICA......SYRIA.....IRAQ.....CHINA....NUKE _ _ _ _ _..Fill in the blanks !!!

Seriously though,

I was being serious !!!

I'd bet the common cold and flu kills a lot more people than both HIV and Ebola

I personally have NO confidence in our gov't, OR the media, etc.....
personally, I try to be as self suffuent as possible. enough food to last an extended period, I heat with wood, venison makes great steak, roast, chili!!!
