the section of the car covered by the rear of the front fender where it meets the door had filler around the seams. I could see rust so I pulled this stuff up and yep, rust. got it. The right side has filler but with paint on it. Should I pull that up too for a look see? Also, on the right side, from the top hood hinge post down, looks like Chrsyler dumped a combo of oatmeal and pancake batter down the side of the car. It comes up, is yellowish brown, and seems to have fibers in it.What a job. Do I need to replace this fille once I dig it out and primer and paint those sections? thanks eveyrone

Nah.....you'll lose points at pebble beach next year if you disturb the originality of the car.

Funny.

I doubt anyone will ever find me at Pebble Beach (been there and not my cup of tea). As for originality, I hear you. I left that behind years ago. I have a 68 Barracuda slant six that is going to receive a 360, upgraded suspension mods, Keystone Klassic wheels, and get this, I am painting the small block turquoise (yep, big block color) with all the engine parts either turquoise or black, designing my own turquoise and black air cleaner pie tin that will say 360 Four Barrel, and other mods. I am not big on originality but big on doing it my way.

Seriously, if it were my car, I would do everything I could to stop the rust!

Or they would all be rust buckets. The Barracuda had undercoating (dealer applied?) in some places, only primer in others (in black, red, gray, and even pea green colored primer), and some places I can't tell if the parts were even painted. I am fixing all that little by little in my garage. Never done this before so I am lucky to have such a rust free car. The Missouri cars I have.......another story. Yes, if only they could fight rust themselves.
