I'm a firm believer in the two week notice rule. It's my name and reputation on the line. If the company doesn't see fit to accept that, that is on them, not me. It all depends on the company, and the position. Many will do as such, and that is fine as far as I'm concerned, but they cannot come back on you, and say you did wrong. I've experienced it both ways, but no one can say I did not do things right. Keep in mind, you're work history follows you. I will not hire someone who has walked off a job, and when I do hire someone, if they are currently employed, I expect them to give their employer notice. If they will walk away from them, they will walk away from me.
