I have been finding what looks like a watered down puddle of oil on my passenger side floor mat and can’t see where it is coming from. Looks to be from the underside of the heater box but I can’t make sense of that so I was wondering if the lines for the oil light run in this area and over to the indicator? Only happens after I drive it, don’t see anything while I’m driving, and usually only ends up being a few drips before it cools down and stops. Can anyone help me understand what the cause of this would be? It’s a 68 Dart with A/C, 225 Auto. Neither heat nor A/C in operation during this. Thanks as always!

It very well might be coolant you're seeing. Heater core leaking maybe? If you don't have the valve under the hood to stop water flow, there is water running through the core all of the time.

There are no oil lines of any kind near the heater core box, inside or outside the car. If it is indeed oil, then you have one majorly oil soaked engine compartment.

The oil pressure sensor itself is on the oil pump and only a wire goes from that to the indicator light in the dash. So that it not going to be the issue.

Some of the old after market oil pressure gauges had a small clear line running from the oil sender to a gauge pod inside the car. These were usually mounted under the dash.
If you have one of these the line could be leaking inside the car.

Does your car have a aftermarket mechanical oil pressure gauge?
Could be seeping at a fitting and trailing down a cable or wire.

Taste it.
Seriously, if it's coolant it'll be sweet tasting and oil won't be.
just don't swallow any of it. :)

People think I'm kidding when I tell them that but it sure defines it quick.

Coolant= sweet
Oil= tastes like oil
Trans fluid= like oil with an odd difference.
Brake fluid= bitter

It's probably coolant though just because of the location.

Lmao, I have done that, all it takes is just a tap of the finger in it. It's hilarious the looks you get when doing that.

I’ve got one from a C Body. Any difference there between C and A heater cores?

Definitely different heater core between a body and c body. Go buy a new one. There cheap.

Sounds to me like the heater core is leaking. I wonder if there is oil in your coolant also. That is a different matter. I would at least flush out the system and keep an eye on it.
