Needed a new blade. Was near Harbor Freight when I remembered. 5 pack for 20 bucks or whatever it was. First few cuts went like a hot knife thru soft butter. Last cut....what the hell happened? 2.5" 3/16th" walled square stock. Couldn't get thru it. Cut 3 sides and just stopped cutting. Had to take the metal out and roll it 90* to get it to finish. How in the hell could a simple abrasive wheel not cut?

"They do that" sometimes. I tried buying them from Ox-Arc and they are some better. I thing they get glazed sometimes. I've got a broken chuck of a grinding wheel. You can use anything, even a wore-down angle grinder wheel, etc

Just spin the thing up and hold your other grinding wheel against the bottom edge for about a second, maybe two. "Fixed."

Haven't priced out too many chop saw blades but anytime I priced out the small "zip" ones made by Norton for my pneumatic angle grinder they are pricy!!! Worth it but expensive.

I purchased a Harbor freight chop saw and a bunch of blades while we were on a jobsite about 75 miles from the shop. Understand that I already own 3 chop saws, a Milwaukee and two DeWalt saws. But none were on this truck.

We were framing door with 16 gauge metal studs, and window openings with 18 gauge studs.

We had 130 doors and 88 windows to frame. Needless to say, by the end of the job, we'd gone trough about 4 times as many fiber blades as usual. The Harbor Freight saw was just about useless, Motor was making a terrible sound, switch was acting up, and even the pivot had lost it's integrity.

I was about to throw the saw in the dumpster. One of the workers asked if he could have it, So I gave it to him, He told me he spent $65.00 repairing it.

That was the first time we used an Chinese saw and those imported fiber blades, and I can tell you that it will be the last time. The brand name saws use better components, and after scores of jobs, none of the Brand name saws I own show any of the issues this one saw showed after only a week of work.

The brand name blades also seem to give more cuts, faster cuts, and even though they cost more, they are cheaper to use in the long run. At least for high usage situations.

We only use brand name cutters for out die grinders, side cutters, chop saws. It's costly up front, but the last so much longer, that the extra initial cost is off set by the service they yield.
John Arbuckle (1838-1912) once said, "You get what you pay for". One of the truest comments ever made.

I have to agree about using HF type blades vs quality blades. Cheap isn't so cheap when you have issues using them.

I have a rule when it comes to HF tools, if it has an electric cord I don't buy it.

i bought two body saws from HF. Neither one would work. I mean hook a air hose to it and nothing but hissing air sound.

My saw is a Rigid. Next time I'm near Home Depot I will be picking up a new wheel for it. One that was on there was a Norton, pretty sure I got it from HD....

I tend to adhere to this self imposed rule as well, although a while back I broke that rule and bought a 1/2" electric impact (on sale) for quick jobs. I gotta tell you, the damn thing works great.

^^^^^^^^^ this ...... it happens to every kind of cutoff wheel not only H.F.

I held my angle grinder to it while it was running, helped some but still not cutting all that well....

I bought one of there engine hoists years ago. When I left AZ I gave it to my neighbor. One of my trips down there I stayed with my neighbor. Told me he hauled it to the recycling center, got tired of wrestling with it...

I use a chop saw all day long at my job cutting tubes and best blades I use are Milwaukee 90 tooth. Dustin

Dewalt blades work pretty good, buy the thinnest one they have.

The 5 pack of HCF blades went into the circular file. Even holding the grinding wheel to them they would no longer cut. Bought a blade from Big R, or whatever they are now called today. Lesson learned....
