Just got a good deal on a 408 stroker. Had a 340 with x heads I was planning on putting in but now change of plans. The stroker came with standard 1.88 j heads. Originally I thought i would sell x heads with the 340 so I could get top dollar for it and just port the j heads but that doesn't appear to be cost effective. Really trying to decide if running the x heads on the stroker is worth it or if I am better to sell them with the 340 and buy another set of heads. :banghead::banghead:

Sell the X's with the 340! Flow wise, little difference between those and the "J's".

As far as "new" heads for the stroker? It really depends on what the application is your going for? A set of cleaned up "J's" might be right in your wheelhouse? :)

If you need to move to a 2.02 valve, you can always weigh the option/cost of going with a Edelbrock/ProComp head?

The X and J heads are identical sans the valve sizes. I wouldn't put a set of iron heads on a stroker nowadays with the price of aftermarket heads so competitive. Doesn't make sense.

Picked up a set of 2.02 J heads with new guides but no valves or springs for $100. Was that a good deal? Starting to think I overpaid now that I am looking at valve prices. I think these will just be used as a backup plan. I agree with you all. Might just run the J heads that came with it as there is no expense there.
