How much power from intake swap?

I had a GTX That ran 10.50's and put a tunnel ram and two fours on it, didn't gain much horsepower but it really got very consistent with running its numbers
 
What are the rules concerning plenum top height and or carb spacer height? The design you have now will not work very well. You need to get that carb higher and make a much better transition into the runners. As it is now I bet your plenum volume is too small, that combined with the challenge of feeding the outer runners will result in less than the desired outcome. As some have suggested a split Dom would be your best 4 barrel. Is it legal? J.Rob
 
Ok, so we finally got this 470 back on the dyno and its all done and ready to rock for this season.

I did NOT run the Victor intake, as the flow was way under what the heads flow. So we ran the single dom carb T/R. It ran good. All we did is have the heads worked over by the LaRoy guys, gained 30+cfm at the higher lift(.650+). Compression was a bit lower from the chamber work. Same cam and bottom end. Same 1050 carb. ADD the MW T/R intake.

Went from 731HP@6750rpm to 793HP@7300rpm

It did exactly what we hoped it would. Raise the power and the power band.

JMO but I'm guessing the gain came from the heads. I don't see much of a positive on the plenum area of the TR like RAMM mentionned. Just for giggles you shoulld try raising the carb adaptor up another 2 inches if it's still on the dyno.

tunnel rams rule on built up engines! (and the heads were tuned up) why no spinning the water pump on dyno?
 
We run an electric pump to circulate the water. I don't have the time or patients to get pulleys to line up, don't have very many any way. Its just easier for me when hooking them up. It not worth much, maybe 5HP on most stuff. He is running an electric motor to run the pump, not the crank.

Mike is correct on the horsepower loss. When the belt flies off the crank and water pump pulleys on a 700 HP engine at 7,000 rpm you gain about 7 HP. Done watched that happen with my very own eyeballs.

Another interesting note. A loose belt that slips and flaps around will cost more horsepower than a tight one. Tested that on our dyno.

There is supposed to be an even greater loss when pulling a fan with the belt but I have not personally tested that one.
 
I ran a single 4 Offy tunnel ram on a couple of different mild 400 B engines with cast iron exhaust in a 71 Demon daily driver and it was great. Full range power increase. In my 452 RB Duster the tunnel ram is set up like a split dominator using a pair of modified 6425 Holleys. I switch between a six pack with 4412s on the outboard and a 280 CFM center and the tunnel ram with the two 2 barrels and gain half a second or about 50 HP with the tunnel ram. I was concerned that there might not be enough plenum area above the runners for even flow on your rig but apparently it is not an issue.
